Goalkeeper to Replace Federici

by Royal_jimmy » 26 May 2015 22:33

Now Federici is off to Bournemouth, I wanted to see who everyone wants to replace Federici.

I don't rate Mikkel Andersen very highly, I have watched him play for us a good 5 times and have never felt he will be a number 1 for us (though he may prove me wrong). His distribution is not that great and I don't think he is a great shot stopper.

I was just interested to see what you thought about who'd you'd all like to be our keeper. There are 6 that are available and these names have been branded around and are realistic for us but there are plenty of decent keepers out there:

- Darren Randolph
- David Forde
- Ben Hamer
- Lee Camp (Bournemouth now have 3 keepers and Camp will be surplus to requirements)
- Wes Foderingham
- Scott Carson

I think I'd only be happy with Hamer and Lee Camp from all of those, I don't rate the others highly. So... what others would you like to see at Reading?

Happy to see Federici go. He's a decent enough Championship keeper, but he always has a mistake in him, and he was always going to go where the money is. Hopefully Pearce will follow suit, and HRK if anyone is stupid enough to offer us and him a deal. (unlikely)

I think I'll be happy as long as we get a goalkeeper! "Robson-Kanu can do a job, we still have Nick Hammond at the club, FFP etc"

I like the OP having seen Andersen play a good 5 times! He has only played 5 times so I assume "good" means he played well, not "at least"...

It will obviously be Andersen with the Chelsea youngster coming in on loan

"obviously"? Can't see Andersen here myself.

Hamer or Foderingham would do nicely for me, with Moore on the bench.

Andersen is poor, no chance he'll be number one, and he wants to be number one, so he will go. A Chelsea loan as back-up? Why would Chelsea loan one out on that basis? Moore can do the same job for us and improve whilst training with the first-team.

MASSIVE +1 for Daniel Bentley.

Watched the Southend - Wycombe final and thought he was excellent.

Young and confident enough to step up.

Enquiries have been made to bring in Jamal Blackman on loan for the season.

Bentley looks a great keeper, young but good experience for his age but I think we'd be in the queue behind more attractive clubs to sign him.

I was disappointed to see Hamer leave so would be happy to see him back and Foderingham is a decent keeper available relatively cheaply. I'd have any of those three ahead of Andersen, who doesn't convince me at all.

think Anderson ill sign now and a Hamer/Foderingham figure will be signed as well to give competition for the place. Moore will be kept to train for the future. so I think there will be 1 new face whether its on loan (Hamer) or Foderingham on a permanent basis. I would be happy with either. Federici is at his peek these 3 still have time to improve and are already at a similar level.
