linkenholtroyal There is one exciting thing about this summer I've been thinking about it, for once we have to make signings where as we haven't before, our squad is so thread bear that at least there will be some transfer action this summer,

I think Blackpool fans had the same thought process last season :o

I think we can all see now exactly why Sal Bibbo was sacked. We haven't got any goalkeepers for him to coach!
What's going on?

Don't count on it. Not with the Thai boys in charge.

We don't have any matches for our goalkeepers to play in...

Royal Bahamas Gunter switched to central defence for Wales yesterday, and he was being touted as the Man of the Match..........Can he do this for Reading???????

No way, far too lightweight.

Your belief has no impact on how we'll do.

I'd be less upset about relegation if the likes of Kuhl, Tshibola, Stacey, Tanner et all got lots of games. I think I'd find it less depressing than making a bunch of signing, the youth getting limited chances and finishing 17th - 21st.

Just went to the RFC wiki page to see what the squad looks like, to see if my perception fits the realism. Wow, it's worse than I realised, we are seriously short.

I always think you need a blend of players that can either play 3 central midfielders or 2, so 4-5-1 or 4-4-2. You need wingers that can attack with 3 central midfielders (HRK) or defend in a 4-4-2 (McAnuff). You need a blend of midfielders so that you have a Lallana, David Silva type but also the Matic, Coquelin type and our old Sidwell type who gets up and down (Danny Williams!)

We have a TERRIBLE squad blend, it's SO rigid. Pog can run and run (and fall), Kuhl can sit and pass, HRK can attack (sometimes) but not defend,

It's not just that we have lost Pearce, and Federici, it's that we look like loosing Karacan too, and we've not currently got Ake, Mackie or Chalobah. We were always short up front and Yakubu and Appiah were papering the cracks of just how short we are up top. If we get an injury to Williams, Hector or McCleary then we're stuffed.

Not on their day, but over a season, we have:

Premier League players:
Top Championship players: Williams, McCleary, Karacan
Mid Championship players: Obita, Hector, Pogrebnyak, Gunter, Norwood, Kelly,
Low Championship players: Robson-Kanu, Cox,
League 1 or below: Akpan, Blackman, Taylor, Cooper, Kuhl, Tshibola, Samuel,

We absolutely NEED:

A Goalkeeper - Foderinham,
A Centre half - McShane
A left back -
A central midfielder - Karacan?, Ake?, Chalobah?
A versatile winger - Gutierrez??
A speedy striker - Akpom?

4-4-2

4-5-1

Anyway, thats the end of my long and utterly pointless post!

The only encouragement I can take is that things seem to be moving quite quickly with players leaving. Would be nice to get all the outgoing business done so we know where we're at.

Gutted about Mackie but makes sense he'd go back to QPR I suppose. Good luck to him.
