"Them" referring to the club/team, as opposed to "them" being used in the grammatically nonsensical way in which a lot of today's illiterate twats use.

But thank you, didn't realise espanyol were from Barca so you've taught me something!

I can't remember how much Bournemouth paid RM for a friendly but I think it was roughly around the £300k mark (the answer is probably on the GF forum) but I would rather that money be used for transfer/wages.

And it was something like £60 a ticket for a pre-season friendly :|

Alexander Litvinenko Been doing some digging.

Real's minimum price for a friendly appearance is €400,000 (£342k).

They also require 30 business class flights, 30 rooms for two nights' full board in a five star hotel and a luxury 35 seater coach from arrival to departure. This adds around £60k to the Real Madrid bill which has to be settled in full five days before arrival by bank transfer, so Bournemouth will be forking out £400k for this.

Dean Court has a capacity of 9,600. Even with a sell-out they won't be making much on this.

sandman Putting the price aside how in the bluest of blue hell do Bournemouth get Madrid to play them and we get Swansea?

AFCB are prepared to pay that sort of money.

There you go.

Paying nearly half a million quid for a game doesn't seem very 'friendly'.

Plus IIRC, all the 'stars' only played the 1st half. And they got beat 6-0

Espanyol is a good match as they will probably play a full team and be a real match unlike a "bigger" club who RFC would struggle to match, They are to play Southampton on Sunday 2 August. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/20150625-southampton-rcd-espanyol-friendly-2507830.aspx

Be interested to see a real foreign team, rather than one that merely crossed the River Severn and bored most watching, which is one reason why I assume the match is at a smaller venue.

Oh don't get me wrong, there was no envy or bitterness in my statement. I couldn't give a shit who we played for a pre season (unless it was really local to me), I wouldn't go and wouldn't care.

I was merely alluding to the fact that Leceister's Thai owners have more £££ than ours.

Some people are richer than others shocker.

I don't think anyone has been disputing that a Premiership clubs' owners would have more money than a Championships clubs' owners.

Nor was I. Leicester were a championship team then.

Get up on the wrong side of the bed, did you?

That sold out and could have done 3 times over. The corporate Berkshire folk would probably pay double and fill the stadium to watch Real Madrid.

Classic spurious "fact" wrt ticket sales. It couldn't have sold out 3 times over and you can't give 110%

I wholly apologise for my appalling English in my previous post. Please allow me to rephrase.

Bournemouth could have sold three times the amount of their 11,700 capacity ticket allocation to their tinpot stadium for the visit of Real Madrid. The demand far outweighed the supply at the time.

Just paid £16 for three tickets for this. Unreserved seating. Hot, sunny day. See the new signings. What's not to like!

Apparently we played Spurs this morning; losing 1-0 to an Eriksen strike.
