I am glad you lot dont have to choose. It dont make any difference who we think should be captain. The manager selects,

You're absolutely right. As we have no control over team selection, game outcomes, and transfers, let's just stop discussing any of it all together.

John Smith If you were Garath McCleary would you be told what to do by Aaron Kuhl?

I'll let that one sink in and give you some time to think.

If I was Garath McCleary I'd be trying to remember how to cross because he seems to have forgotten.

If Kuhl was appointed captain by the manager, he won't be at this time, then I would hope that Garath McCleary and everyone else would be professional enough to accept that decision from the manager and get on with their job and doing their best for RFC.

If not then perhaps they aren't the kind of player we want at the club.

Haha what a prat, I knew you would turn it around to have a pop at mccleary, maybe his crossing will improve when we get a striker who gets on the end of them and puts them away hence the 15 + assists the season before last.

As for being told by Aaron Kuhl, like a previous poster said he is a sensible guy who wouldn't let something silly like that be an issue. Why would you hope for something like that.

And you are?

If you notice I used the word remember indicating that he has lost his way which you yourself have backed up when you pointed to his achievements the previous season.

Fulham away is imo the only game where he could say that the strikers weren't putting away his crosses. Other than that game there's not much a striker can do when the winger is stuffs his cross into the full back two yards in front of him. Poor crossing was just as big an issue last season as strikers movement not being good enough.

Hope McCleary does remember how to cross because on his day I believe he can be the best winger in the Championship.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Quinn named captain. Would imagine we'll be looking to build our midfield around him this season, and he seems to have the right type of character.

Agree, I would expect it to be Quinn. Only alternative I could see is McShane if he follows his bestest mate in the whole wide world into the club

A new signing being made captain would fit with the idea of shaking up the atmosphere behind the scenes. And the fact we've not got a suitable candidate.

indeed Ian i called that on page 1 8)

WoodleyRoyal if we get mcshane or quinn i would bet on one of them getting it, think clarke wants to change the club from top to bottom and bringing in his own captain will very much help with that

Got my vote. Williams would be too risky with his temperament.

From look of pictures, it looks like Gunter.

I'd like to see Williams get it but my guess would be Gunter. He's pretty prominent on all the promotional material on the Thailand tour perhaps suggesting he'll play a bigger role this season.

Sort of think if it was going to be one of the present squad, would it not have been announced by now, maybe Clarke is wanting to see how the contenders are in front of the cameras during the Thailand trip, considering that captains are expected to front press conferences etc........or are we waiting for another incomer that is being kept well quiet at the moment ?
