Another good, steady, experienced signing.

He will be a good mentor to both Hector and Cooper, along with Ferdinand.

It looks like Clarke is starting to build the squad he wants.

Well that came out of the blue....

Good signing, and interesting to read that Clarke already wanted another experienced defender before Pearce was leaving. I wonder if that means we'll possibly see another one coming in before the end of the window (as I've said elsewhere if I were Clarke I'd be very tempted by Zak Whitbread on a free as well, partly for his ability to cover left back).

More mention of a winning mentality too. It's a bit of a cliché and hollow praise, but it's obviously something that Clarke has identified as needing to be fixed this summer.

Not sure about Whitbread though. He's only made 9 appearances this season for Derby....

He had a hamstring injury that kept him out for about 6 months I believe. That might be a question mark against him of course.

Maybe he is confrimmed.

In the absence of a keeper moving the goalposts may be our best form of defence.

John Smith Did he fall over and scrabble around on the ground at Brentford and cost us a goal?
Did he score an own goal, then slip and get sent off at Cardiff?

No, but Pearce did. There's some stats you can't argue with.

I will grant you that Paul McShane has never made a mistake whilst playing for Reading.
