I imagine he's more interested in how the characters fit in to the squad and how the dynamics work then he is their interview stye.

Give the captaincy to Paul McShane.

If Gunter and Williams are our best choices then surely it should go to a new player...

Anton Ferdinand might be a good shout ......certainly based on his first half display so far in Bangkok

I thought, "what happens in Bangkok, stays in Bangkok".

If he manages more than 45 minutes i'm sure we could do worse.

Expecting to see him "receiving treatment" by the time the next friendly comes round....

I'm assuming nothings been announced on a new captain yet? Unless I've missed the announcement.

Still intruiged to see who Clarke thinks is the best fit.

Assuming life is exactly like Football Manager, it will be announced with the squad numbers.

So was Kuhl, so don't worry too much. Still think it'll be McShane.

My understanding is that one of the main responsibilities of a captain is to act as go-between for the players and the manager and to represent the players in (non-contractual) negotiations. So a new boy may not be a good choice as lots of the lads won't have known him long enough to build up trust.

Jobi was a great captain because he is an intelligent and articulate bloke. Of the current crop, Williams or McCleary seem the closest match.

I'd be very surprised if it wasn't given to Gunter or McShane.

Gunter sat beside Clarke in one of the main press conferences over in Thailand - also captained the side there at the friendly.

McShane - capt of Ireland, bags of experience, Clarkes signings.

I think it's Gunter nailed on. Don't think he's captain material myself - would prefer McShane.

I got the feeling from this article that he doesn't really want Gunter as captain, just that he was the most suitable on the tour.

Clarke, however, insists the defender’s appearance by his side at the Intercontinental Hotel was purely coincidental.

“Chris is a senior player,” said Reading’s manager.

“He’s been captain of the club before. But he doesn’t need the armband to be a captain.

“But while he’s here right now he’s the most viable candidate, certainly for today game, to take the armband.”

I think it will probably be Quinn.

Not sure if that's tongue in cheek or not. It would be the obvious choice IMO. Due a whoosh?

I think your first sentence saves the whoosh.
