Obviously he isn't an out-and-out striker, and the second half of last season wasn't great

But I thought I'd check out his stats, and they are very solid

87 Goals 34 Assists 21,387 246 Minutes per Goal - 177 Minutes/Goal or Assists Career
30 Goals 25 Assists 08,945 298 Minutes per Goal - 163 Minutes/Goal or Assists Championship
08 Goals 06 Assists 02,869 359 Minutes per Goal - 205 Minutes/Goal or Assists Reading

So last season, a poor season for Reading, and not his best, he still averaged a goal or assist
every two-and-a-quarter games.

More importantly, overall he gets a goal or assist in a fair bit less than 180 minutes (163)

For comparison, Pog, Chhampionship, is 248 Minutes per Goal and 175 mins per goal or assist

So The Pog scores a bit more but in terms of scoring or making a goal, Cox's record in the Championship is better.

So basically he scored or created a goal every two and a quarter games and his stats compare favourably to Pogs?

No wonder we struggled to average a goal a game.

Cox, like Pog, is a willing tryer but not the answer to any questions we need to be asking.

I don't know why we are even having this conversation. Cox isn't in Clarke's plans. Wasn't at West Brom and won't be here.

I'd be surprised if we saw more of him than Samuel

No. His stats compare favourably to Pog's if you include when he played for a team that finished 2nd five years ago (scoring or creating a goal every match and a half).

To be honest, I stopped paying any real attention after "But I thought I'd check out his stats......"

Nonsense. Cox was leaving West Brom that summer long before Clarke was announced manager.

Didn't Cox say something about not holding a grudge after Clarke binned him at WBA? Sure GetReading ran it. That sounded like it was Clarke's call.

Copy and paste this to the Nick Blackman and Hal Robson-Kanu threads

He's one of our own?

In fairness he's hardly been given a chance for the last few seasons.

Cox, Blackman (although he has upped his value in pre-season) and - hopefully - HRK are not in the Saturnine Jock's plans. ( I suspect we'll see HRK "moved on" in the next week.)

That means places for Hurtado, Fosu, Stacey, the Spanish chappy and, *shudder* even Pog.....

Yes, I'm pissed and delusional.

It's a bit odd with Cox. He didn't look a world beater or anything, but under Adkins and alongside Murray he looked plenty good enough. But he seems to be a different player under Clarke. I'd hoped he'd like well with Sa, but it doesn't look like it. Maybe if we had some width to feed the two of them...

His days look numbered.

time for coxey to walk

by theroyalsaregoingup » 26 Aug 2015 20:25

after watching simon cox last night its clear to see he's nowhere near good enough to play in the championship and brings nothing to the team, so why don't he and reading just do us all a favour and give him mutual termination?
