I think it is time to do something about the abysmal atmosphere at the mad stad. Any suggestions?

Why don't you start the ball rolling with your brilliant ideas.

Maybe a singing section, could get rid of the god awful drums, banners, flags. Just look at what Crystal Palace have at the Homesdale End. Something like that would be good.

Playing decent football usually works wonders for the atmosphere.

How about something like at Dortmund. A huge terrace of 20,000 would be amazing !
Let's start a petition and make the club sort it for Leeds.

How about we play some silly music when we score and then see if we can punch the person next to us whilst flinging our arms around...

A decent anthem would be a good start

There is nothing more brilliant than thread with suggestions on how to improve the atmosphere at a football stadium. Can't think why no one has ever started one before. Seriously, where did you get this excellent idea from.

- Make everyone stand up.
- Ban kids and anyone over twenty five who insists on watching football rather than doing what they should be doing - shouting insane - insults and tuneless encouragements.
- Have some words that are vaguely football related and can be "sung" to the "tune" of some recent guitar-band "hit" printed on bits of A4 and put them on every chair - then get the stewards to eject anyone with too much sense of dignity to join in.
- Stop charging for admission so that people who enjoy casual inter-tribal violence but don't care for football can attend to really up the casual homophobia / borderline racist ante.
- rumble-stix
- balloons
- bloke in a lion suit
- Neil Diamond songs
- house music

That should be a good start.

It's always the same. A serious question is raised, then met with sarcasm and silliness. Pffft.

How to improve the atmosphere?

1. Take all the seats out, and replace them with space hoppers.
2. Theme games. Burnley (H) becomes Burnlesque. Players in a special hooped kit featuring stockings/suspenders. Crowd go wild.
3. Get local "celeb" Paul Daniels to walk around the concourses, doing close up magic, whilst regaling us with his razor sharp witticisms, assisted, of course, by the very lovely Debbie McGhee.
4. Make the biggest spliff ever, place it on the southwest corner of the stadium roof, light it, and then turn the wind turbine round so it fans the smoke into the bowl.

Job Done.

Sometimes I feel like I have deja vu, viewing these board. Yes the atmosphere can be shit. Perhaps a singing/standing section/club anthem/getting rid of post goal music/moving back to Elm Park/building green park train station/resigning Long/Doyle/Sigurðsson/Kitson/Cureton might help.

Will any of the above happen? No

Although this feels like a particularly odd timing to question the atmosphere, in the middle of off season when a home game hasn't been played in months. Bizarre.

Usual ideas, but an anthem is the main thing to bind all groups of supporters, preferably one that has some age , like Liverpool's , Palace's or even Wet Sham's, not (as always seems to be suggested) a tuneless offering from the 80's/90's or newer, that most people over 15 have never heard of.

everyone should clap cheer and sing when we are playing well, & do so a little bit louder when we score a goal
when we are playing badly we should also clap cheer and sing to encourage the players a bit

This is a rather exhausted topic but I think you need to accept that we're a humble, middle class team and that it's always going to be how it is.

That being said, I recall at Nottingham Forest away a couple of years back for the 3-2 victory on the Friday night there was a particularly large presence of "casuals" as opposed to the usual fleece and Thermos brigade. It was a tremendous occasion yet again to add to the memory bank of City Ground away days.

I guess if you don't like it, don't go? That's why I don't have a season ticket.

Agree with that. Its the simplest and most effective option. The best choice would be an older record thats punchy and short - words need to be easily remembered. It needs to build first with a repetitive chorus that can be easily remembered. Most successful ones are like that. Sweet Caroline is completely wrong for a football crowd. Think the best 5 tunes suggested should be voted on and any budding lyricists should come up with the words. Berkshire radio and the Post could then promote it. Could be worth a few extra points at Home

I quite like the name 'Royal Badgeman'. It implies either a regal man who has a lot of badges, or a portmanteau combining man and badger, implying you're some sort of hybrid badger human thing (your mum had sex with a badger?).

Can you please clarify which assumption is correct?
