WoodleyRoyal
allwite I always remember last season away to Brighton. 1-1 with about 10 minutes to go, he was one on one with their goalkeeper with Jordan Obita to his left completely unmarked. All he had to do was pass it out to Obita to put in the back of the net, but he shot, hit the goalkeeper and went out for a corner.

Such a selfish player.

P.S - Having been a reader of this website for many years - I welcome the fcuk off newbie. :D

tbf your not really going to have anything nice to say about him with a username such as yours .

Your not wrong there. It sums Blackman up perfectly. His just allwite. Nothing special or fancy like he believes he is.

Obviously talented and obviously no self-awareness. I'd forgive him three seasons of shite if he could produce consistently the attacking threat he showed in flashes at the start of last season.

He deserves another chance purely on the basis that we are unlikely to bring in anyone better.

Also, the ear-cupping at Derby last season was hilarious, the football equivalent of head-butting a baby prove you're hard as nuts.

He's had 78 chances to date and has 7 goals to show for it.

But how many times has he played a full 90 minutes. Very few I'd expect. I still think he could do with a decent run of games in the team in the same position in the same formation to see if he really is as bad as most people think.

I believe this is the last year of his contract too. Another reason he might be trying to impress

Agree with both sides of the argument.

1) He's not been good enough, especially when you consider his hefty fee.
2) He's not had any sort of extended run in the side, so it's harsh to label him as a waste of space.

This season could be make or break for the lad. He's scoring goals all over the shop in preseason though, so maybe the first few games of the season are his chance to prove himself.

If I were Clarke, I wouldn't be looking to sell him in this window - wait and see how he does between Aug and Jan, and if he disappoints, look to sell him then. I think he will improve.

The whole "I've got nothing to prove" is a load of ballbags though, he's got everything to prove. This preseason has been a good start though.

sandman
wiggso He scored a screamer against Swansea last year too and then did nothing all year, seems to think its all about the preseason. Whenever I think of him I think of that goal away at Derby where we had already won the game and he bobbled the ball over the line and turned to the Reading crowd as if he had proved everyone wrong.

Terrible player, terrible attitude.

Human being in human reaction to abuse by a bunch of divs who are supposed to be supporting him shocker.

I agree and I think he'd of been better off not scoring them goals by the sounds of it as far as this forum is concerned

Yes but he had hardly proved anyone wrong - if his attitude was a bit better on the whole then I doubt he would have got this abuse. I cant think of anything he has done for the club, I might be wrong.

What does he need to do to be known to have done something for the club?

WoodleyRoyal i like him, tbh i think he is the most talented footballer at the club, he just hasn't been used properly, build the team around him

This isn't the Craig Tanner thread.

My thoughts on Blackman:

- Only seems to be good at dribbling and close-range finishing. He's scored some screamers but he's also blasted way too many high into the stands to be called "good at shooting". He can't cross for toffee, he's terrible defensively, his decision making is atrocious, he doesn't have particularly good movement, and for a man of his size he's no threat in the air.
- Consequently, despite a very good start to last season, he doesn't have the skills to play on the wing.
- We have several better strikers and are still looking to sign more. I make him fifth choice (behind Pog, Sa, Cox, and Samuel) even before signings come in.

So I don't think I could be described as someone who rates him.

Put him back in League 1 and he'll do well, not at this level. That said he 's by no means the worst we've ever had.
(once had one who couldn't see all the way across the pitch for example).

I'd say Clarke rates him at least 1 and maybe 2 places higher. But I'd also agree that Clarke clearly wants to bring in players to fit in ahead of him in the pecking order.

Someone eRlier nailed it when they said they don't know where he plays. Same problem as HRK, both have some ability but neither have a natural team role.

Like HRK he has an arrogance problem that gives the impression he thinks he is far better than he is. His reaction at Derby last year to the fans spoke volumes.

I would not be surprised if he had the same agent as HRK.

As some have already said, we dont even know what position he plays. Not good enough to be a striker and definitely not a winger either. He is also arrogant without having reason to be.

Nothing to prove Nick? What about the fact you have proven nothing as a footballer and haven't even justified a £1.2m transfer fee?

I just don't like him

He looks like a miserable chap who doesn't really care about the club - just wants to take his wage and go home

He's just a stroppy version of HRK.

I don't like him either.

Liked and respected by his team mates who know him yet disliked and called arrogant by people who don't know him at all.
Talented player who although very inconsistent can be on his day very effective and being a reading player I hope he has a good season
