Are we supposed to be picking our preferred team or trying to predict the team the manager will pick :?:

Ian Royal Can't see playing Fosu on the wrong side being a good idea.

Jesus Christ Ian

Study this in a 5-5-6 formation

Dunno what you're upset about, you know he's a left winger.

Pick one and then argue unwavering that you were going for the other when people over aggressively point out their opinions as facts.

McCleary being out is a big blow, but I actually didnt want Pog in the first 11 so maybe this could be a blessing in disguise. I think Cox is potentially a better partner for Orlando Sa, and Samuel also deserves a chance. I think I'd choose Sa and Samuel to start upfront.

Don't want a makeshift winger like Blackman in the team either so now that McCleary is out I expect (hope) that we will sign someone. This now looks like being Paolo Hurtado so my team would be this -

GK - Bond
RB - Gunter
CB - McShane/Ferdinand
CB - Hector
LB - Obita
RM - Fosu
CM - Williams
CM - Quinn
LM - NEW SIGNING - Hurtado?
ST - Samuel
ST - Orlando Sa

With Mcleary out we are short on wingers. I like the idea of 5-3-2/3-5-2 as suggested in the first post.

Gk Bond

Rwb Gunter
Cb Mcshane
Cb Ferdinand
Cb Hector
Lwb Obita

Cm Quinn
Cm Williams
Cm Norwood

St Sa
St Blackman

Sa's not fit yet, Fosu is not ready, Tshibola faded badly although started well. Not disputing your line up but pointing out how weak we are especially without Macleery and Pog. Unless we make a couple of great signings this team looks like relegation candidates already.

Seriously?

Can't see it. I think we'll get a lot of clean sheets this year. If we don't do well it won't be because of a leaky defence but due to a lack of goals.

The CBs look very solid with Hector, Ferdinand, McShane, Morrison, Keown, and I fancy Obita for a big season.

The central midfield looks strong with Williams, Quinn, Norwood backed up by Tish.

I just can't see us even remotely near the bottom

Just think that relying on Fosu and Tish, the possible problem in goal and no goalscorer will be our undoing. We played some nice football on Saturday but it was so unproductive. Compare that to the team on07/08 when the ball was sprayed out to the wings and the ball was in the box asap. How many times did that happen against Espanyol? Clarke seems to favour a defensive style of play but for that to work you need a prolific goalscorer. We haven't got one and we missed our best chance with Beric.
