To all the Reading fans who lead the excellent singing in the East Stand, can I please make a humble plea.

I know that for many years, there has been a song linking Sir John with Cilla Black but I see from the BBC news today that she has died today at the age of 72.

Can we please show some respect and drop this song from our repertoire? - We should show respect to Cilla and obviously Sir John will be grieving too.

Some of the reaction to this OP is simply daft. It is a perfectly polite request from a person who doesn't think it would be right to continue to do something offensive under the changed circumstances. From some of the response you'd think he had made a directive. As you say, there are some idiots who might thinbk it as funny (it wouldn't be) to resurrect this chant. So, a simple request not to do that is pretty reasonable. It is not a directive, it isn't threatening and it leaves open the door to anyone to ignore it if they are so minded.

I get that JM was a good "friend" of Cilla but a minute silence for someone with no connection to football or the club is a bit bizarre, almost as bad as the suggestion of having a silence for Thatcher.
