That's a pointless reason to appeal and would never work. Reading fans came onto the pitch gloating at Bradford (some were anyway) and one threw a smoke bomb into their end.

That is far different to fans invading the pitch to protest on the last game of the season.

Plus appealing on the basis of "it's unfair as they did worse than us and they got a lesser fine..." is fruitless

There are a couple of fans on those clips that could be looking at a stadium ban. The flare guys, and a couple goading the away fans. One guy quite a few times.

Once they were on the pitch where were the stewards taking them away from the away end.

If you look most of the stewards are huddled around the players tunnel. Not good enough.

Also the tannin guy should have tuned the music off and asked fans to clear the pitch. Fairly basic.

Barney There will not be a fine for the pitch invasion !!

End of season. Play-offs reached, promotion gained, relegation avoided etc etc. Happens all over the country.
How many fines are dished out ? None.

End of thread.

floyd__streete ^ Yep. Bad enough we had Sweet Caroline rammed down our throats over the tannoy a dozen or more times on the night but the PA man also played circus music when that utter pillock was doing somersaults on the pitch. Sums our club up really, your description of it being like a carnival rather than a football match was spot on. No wonder crowds are dipping, not everyone cares for the club's insistence of promoting a family atmosphere above all else. Where were these families when we played Bury on a Tuesday night and only 5,500 packed out the ground :?:

Probably at home in bed.

You are so negative.

Football is only for boozy men obviously...................................

(Braces himself for the assault.).................eventually.

Since when has it been a bannable offence to goad away fans? If this is the case surely 90% of Y24-Y26 should be banned and pretty much every away fan ever.

Public order offence - if they can find someone who says they were offended or felt threatened by any behaviour they would have no issues in court banning you.

The guy who invaded the pitch during open play and Somersaulted got a 3 year ban.

Not sure if they identified the flare thrower

Here we go;

Reading FC fan banned for three years for throwing flare
06:30, 31 July 2015
By Hugh Fort

Kieron White, 20, admitted throwing in the flare in the direction of the away supporters, but insisted he was trying to get it off the pitch rather than hurling it at them.

A Royals fan who threw a flare towards the away end during a pitch invasion after the team’s FA Cup game against Bradford City has been banned from the Madejski Stadium for three years.

Keiron White, 20, from Helston Gardens in Whitley , admitted going onto the pitch at the stadium and throwing the flare in the direction of the Bradford supporters.

However, his defence pointed out White was on the field with hundreds of other supporters and insisted he did not throw the flare at the away fans but was just trying to throw it off the pitch.

White handed himself in to police after seeing an appeal showing him with the flare on the internet.

The banning order means White cannot enter the Madejski Stadium on match days and also means he is banned from a part of Reading town centre during games.

In addition to his banning order, District Judge Davinder Lachhar also made White pay a £150 fine, with court costs of £150 and a victim surcharge of £20.

His ban ends in July 2018.

Still think it's stupid to have a flid at the pitch invaders. It's the dicks with the flares that did the damage.

If he'd been listening to the radio like a real fan he'd know the stewards were busy either watching or trying to beat up teenagers at the North Stand and the tannoy asked repeatedly for people to clear the pitch

To be honest I'm not sure what the FA expect.

How do they prevent determined fans from going on the pitch?
Safety stewards can't touch them. It would be too expensive to have any more police. Response stewards are wimps.

I know............................fences!

It would be interesting to see what the numbers of badged stewards were compared to a normal match. There did appear to be an extra response team (one by the north stand that isn't there) but there didn't seem to be much of an increased presence around the edges of the pitch. I suspect that if the club were able to show that they had put in place what the FA would have considered appropriate additional measures given the high emotions, it wouldn't have mattered how out of hand it got. I was sat in the north stand and there were only 3 or 4 stewards applying their best kung-fu to lone teenagers. They were never going to stop anything.

Shame all of this, it has soured what was probably the best atmosphere/experience i can remember at the Mad Stad in recent years.

The Kungu Fu stewards were probably contract staff not RFC. I'd be surprised to see doing RFC stewards doing that.

Bans are being handed out, I know 3 people who got 3 year football or Reading bans. 1 fairly (flare thrower), 1 semi-fairly (threw a bottle back at the Bradford fans after it had been thrown and hit him from the Bradford fans, Bradford fans got no backlash) and 1 very unfairly (being on the pitch).
