Rapid Vienna lost tonight at home to Shakhtar in the first leg of the group stage CL qualifier. I imagine if any deal exists it'll be on the basis that they fail to qualify for the group stages, so fingers crossed!

I can see the logic actually. Rapid fail to reach the CL so he signs for RFC, who are not in the CL.

This one is over. He will leave Rapid and if he doesn't get a club playing in the CL, he will at least be playing for a top flight club in a top league somewhere.

This one is over. He will leave Rapid and if he doesn't get a club playing in the CL, he will at least be playing for a top flight club in a top league somewhere.

The logic is, he won't be getting champions league football at Rapid, so he moves to England where there is a chance to further his career and get to the premier league.

If that's true then wow, just wow.

I'm torn between thinking this is absolutely ridiculous money for a striker in the league we're in and that its not bad value considering the money being paid and offered for average strikers by clubs in our division.

I would be excited by this transfer but cant help thinking back to the days when Coppell and Pardew were able to pick up prolific strikers for the fraction of this cost. In fact they could build two teams for this cost. Different era I know but this is still so so much money for a club like us to spend.
