Looks like we've got a decent one in the current u16 crop:

Ipswhich have just announced that they have signed John Henly after a successful trial after being released by us.

Why didnt we keep him? Did he turn down contract or just not get offered one?

Is this gonna be a running gag until one day we sack Clarke and say he fell out with his own dad?

Several England internationals in that crop, Ethan Coleman in midfield is one to watch.

Didn't get offered one. Same with Dan Lincoln.

Presumably they are the same group of players that were surprising the big European clubs a year or ago?

It's a sign that our youth development is going well that you could be talking about a number of sides ;)

They're the team who won the Nike Cup when they were U14s, yes.

If memory serves I think our sides 11-15 have been surprising in europe the last couple of summers

"We've never heard of them and they are winning?!" was one of the coaches comments that I managed to parse...

Anything being written about our 11-15s? It would be interesting to read up on them.

Full strength U21 side vs Liverpool it appears.
Looking forward to it, though a bit disappointed none of them will be starting tomorrow.

Liburd sounds useful. Bung him in, he can't do any worse.

Very good first half.
First 20 minutes we dominated possession without creating very much. A few half chances from their keeper fumbling long shots. One tasty through ball from Kuhl early on. Liburd working hard, winning and controlling every aerial ball.

Next 10 minutes Liverpool were getting in to it. First proper chance went to them, Moore saving smartly down low with his feet. Moore then parried a shot from outside the box.

Last 15 minutes were definitely ours. 1st goal very decent. Long ball from Moore taken excelently out of the air by Stacey's foot, good pass into Liburd who could have shot from the corner of the box but unselfishly squared to Nova who produced a clinical finish on the floor.

2nd goal shortly after. Corner drilled far post and Sweeney with a great header back across the face of goal. Liburd scrambling it in from a yard out with his feet.

So far most impressed with Liburd and Moore who have not put a foot wrong. Sweeney and Long have also been decent. Poor decision making from Fosu, Kuhl has misplaced too many simple passes.

Good win made less comfortable than it should have been thanks to Moore punching it in the net. Can forgive him as he made some good saves.

Moore was very impressive as a showstopper, very unimpressive with his handling. Too often he made excellent saves but didn't cling on to the ball or get it away from the danger area.
Liburd and Novakovic were very good upfront, in a year or so that partnership should be scaring defences, two good athletes, good touch, hard working, powerful and tall.
The Liverpool number 11 was very good....

Moore's reflexes were excellent, particularly with his feet, but his handling was poor even leaving the goal aside. Liverpool got too many chances when he pushed shots away. Not as rounded as Lincoln.

A very good performance. The midfielders showed their class and the forwards were excellent.

Seems like all the goal keepers are being told to punch rather than catch, leading to mistakes at every level.

Liverpool didn't show enough respect in the first half and let us do our thing. So we scored, twice. Second half they made more of a game of it. They rally put the siege on as the changes were rung and Reading just kept dropping back. Liburd surprised me, very quick and good with his head and can now understand the signing, decent game, very good win and Sammi fridjohnssons girlfriend is stunning.

Lady sasima and some of the other thais were in their box with Sir John watching ion. Also saw Ferdinand which makes me wonder if he's rested for tomorrow.

Team last night

Moore
Long
Griffin
Hyam
Sweeney
Kuhl
Shaughnessy
Fosu
Stacey
Nova
Liburd

Subs Kelly for Stacey HT
Cardwell for Liburd 65
Owusu for Fosu 80

I guess that means Fosu is not playing in the Cup tonight.

For me Sweeney, Griffin, Shaughnessy, Liburd and Nova were the stand out players. Fosu got better as the game went on (not surprising as he is coming back from injury). I expect Stacey is going with the first team to Pompey as he was taken off at half time?

Moore made some great reaction saves with his feet, but his handling was poor on a few shots (pushing out shots towards their strikers for example and was 100% at fault for the goal, where he should have caught it easily and all he did was punch it backwards into his own net.

Very good performance, but we were pretty much at full strength (just Keown missing) and it was quite a young Liverpool team
