rfc_prem2006 Not sure if this has been shared or not but will post it anyway...

http://www.francebleu.fr/infos/mercato/ ... se-2541249

So basically the article is saying that Beric will move to St Etienne if they qualify for the Europa League, 1st leg finished 1-1, 2nd Leg is tomorrow night, they're expected to beat Malsami on home soil...

Don't Rapid drop into the Europa League group stages though?

I think its more to do with St Stienne not having the money unless they qualify.....rather than him actually wanting to play in the competition

I thought the Europa League was pretty much a non profit maker for most clubs.

URZZZZZ I'd say it's more along the line of making an offer that they know will not be accepted, just like with gilfi, so then they can say they tried.

Exactly this. All good PR to appease the fans. Makes the owners look ambitious. If £4m is really there for a striker, you'll see us spend it or much of it before deadline day.. Clarke wants a striker and one or two others. The reality however will see us get a cheapo or loan signing.

You mean like Jack Hobbs who conspiracy clowns were claiming was one such fantasy bid until Steve Bruce confirmed it had been accepted in a press conference. Of course we could have claimed he'd failed the medical if he came here but you'd soon run out of clubs willing to do business with you if you played that card too often.

Plenty of bids are simply punts to test the resolve of the selling club at a price (or simply rumours leaked by agents) but the notion the club make bids they can't afford, for players they've no intention of buying, just to appease gullible supporters is pretty daft.

Especially seeing as most of the people who moan about lack of ambition or spending don't buy into them being genuine bids anyway. If they did do it, it would be right up there with the stupidest and most fruitless things the club has ever done.

Latest from the EP on transfers...

The manager remains tight-lipped on transfers

With just a few days remaining of the summer transfer window, Reading are still in the hunt for new faces.

Prolific Slovenian striker Robert Beric remains a priority with Rapid Vienna confirming Royals had lodged what would be a club record bid.

But when asked about the comments, which came from Rapid president Michael Krammer, Clarke said: “Have we? First I’d heard of it was when you just told me.

“That’s coming from their club. As a club we don’t talk about transfers until they are done.”

Nathaniel Chalobah is also set to finally complete his return to Madejski Stadium on loan from Chelsea, while fellow Blues attacker Lucas Piazon has also been linked.

When asked if Piazon was set to arrive, Clarke said: “I don’t know.

“I’m not going to talk about players, I never talk about players.

“It’s just speculation. I’m not going to talk about every player that gets mentioned in the press.”

With Clarke though normally if it's someone there *really* isn't any interest in though he just says it's a complete no-go, rather than being all coy. I think this could still happen.

No, it won't

We would like it to, Clarke would like it to but the player will opt to play european football on a regular basis

I fully agree with the want to play European games, or even just in a more 'glamorous' league, but I reckon the wages of English football could talk? Pleaaaaase?

Which country in this scenario has a lower tax rate than the UK?
Certainly not Austria, France or Belgium.
