Well that was quite a coup,well done nicky hammond, I thought that boat had sailed and his contract would have run down. Yeah he held the ball up ok and worked pretty hard, but his aerial ability for his size was woeful (Chelsea away and Fulham away last season being the fleeting exceptions) and he lacked any predatory instinct.

Not sure I want my strikers to 'work hard' as their main attribute either if that over rides what he was paid to do and score goals. Trevor Morley put a shift in but at least he scored goals. Ultimately pog was our version of zicola zigic at brum, expensive luxury who tried hard but largely failed to deliver.

At least that's pretty much all of the anton high wage brigade off the books other than perhaps hrk. Would think that 2 strikers should be a minimum given pog off,Samuel out for a good while and question marks now over cox. Have a feeling it will be just the one (fingers and toes crossed for beric) with us waiting on Samuel who deserves a shot at reading and who knows maybe liburd may impress,whilst persisting with hrk/blackman in the centre despite the fact that they have shown that position does not sit well with them for a number of seasons.....

Whatever the contract/salary he was on, it was our Miss-management at the time that offered him those wages and the contract at the time. No one can blame the player for that.

No one on here can also disagree that the money spent on his contract could be better served elsewhere where there might be a bigger return on the money spent. The club will want to get a proven goal scorer in before the window shuts as the final piece to the jigsaw, I just hope we do not throw everything as besic if it does not happen at the 11th hour and we have no other alternatives
