I don't think Ray Reeves ever played left-half for us. For most of his time Maurice Evans was the left-half - part of that wonderful half-back line of Anderton, Spiers and Evans.

For the level they played at many of the players mentioned did a great job for Reading : Butler, White, Richardson Kerr, Armstrong and even on occasions Michael Gilkes. However, Nicky Shorey performed consistently well for Reading at the top level in our best ever team and played twice for England. There can't really be any other choice. As mentioned elsewhere, Bertrand was a different class again but as he was only on loan he was never (nor ever gonna be) a proper Reading player.

I'll chuck in an honourable mention for Gilkes for his wing back days post PO. I even saw him make a tackle once.
