Clarke apparently makes a negative change to our shape going one up top to try to hold the lead.

McCleary seems to have done nothing since coming on. Very odd decision to bring off HRK at HT, when he put in the cross for Sa's goal and won the freekick for Blackman's.

How long will it take us to recover?

Can we finish three times in 90 minutes?

Brentford have come at us since the break and scored a goal. A change had to be made, and going defensive makes sense to me.

It's fine if it works, but I don't like the way Clarke seems to always make the negative move, rather than the positive one.

I think the language is a bit confused. A 'positive' move that costs you the game is anything but. I support the move on this occasion, just another 10 minutes to get through.

A 'positive' move is one that attempts to improve attack and score a goal, can make you more open.
A 'negative' move is one that attempts to improve defence and stop conceding, can surrender the initiative and invite pressure.

Each one has their moment but, for me, Clarke is inclined to go negative and defensive too often and too early. The negative move is one that can't be suuccessfully used over a sustained period. It's a short term 5-10 minutes move, particularly when you're winning by 1 goal.

Yes Ian, i know what they mean.

I'm suggesting the use of the words negative or positive get all to often taken literally to the point that may people think that defensive play is a naturally disagreeable thing.
