tidus_mi2Samrfc01 £4m for a our 3rd choice centre-back is good money.
I'd rather we kept him but i'm not overly upset by it as long as we get someone in.
Well except he's our 1st choice centre back but in poor form right now.

Hoop BlahBlue&White MageWoodleyRoyal apparently he had a 4mill release clause
If thats right whoever did the new contract should be sacked.
Hector's previous contract was due to expire at the end of this season. He could easily have run that down and gone on a free (with compensation due) or go for a lot less this summer with only the 12 months left on the contract. The cub would've been held over a barrel on it to a certain extent.
£4m is a decent price as well, even in this window full of crazy fees.
Charlton reportedly got £3.5m for Gomez, a player which much more potential and an extra 5 years left in him than Hector.

Winston Smith We also dont know if there were other agreements around the deal. Piazon may not have happened if Hector didnt go there for example

Why is it a bad deal though?
In what world are people paying much more for players of that level? I may well be wrong but I can't remember too many Championship centre halfs for going for much more.

Hoop Blah £4m for a 23 year old player who's only really played one season in the Championship, and that was that saw his side flirting with relegation and gifting the opposition far too many soft goals, is a pretty good price if you ask me.
All this talk of great potential, he's 23 and still get in the side ahead of Anton Ferdinand and Paul McShane. I hate the think what the reaction would be were we bidding that kind of money on a player with those credentials.
I can't for the life of me figure out why Chelsea are even considering it to be honest.
