A very good transfer window, largely due to some fantastic backing for Hammond and Clarke from the Thais I suspect. There is only one area of concern and that is the keepers. Let's hope at least one of them gets through the very shaky start and comes good because otherwise all of the good work done later in the window could be undone by the complete change in the GK set up at the start of the summer.

I'd like to think that some of the attacking signings were made with the express intention of allowing players like Stacey and Fosu to go out on loan and get some decent game time under their belts rather than just getting the odd cup game or 10 minutes here and there.

There's nowt wrong with bringing players in on loan with the option to purchase at the end of the season.

3points Anyone else thinking that Sa may struggle for game time now?

Possibly won't get as much as he would have done had we not signed Vydra, who is surely now our no1 choice.

Depends what formation we play, if we have only one up front then Vydra would probably be first choice, though Sa could be better than Vydra at playing on his own upfront, we don't know. Possibly there could be a front 3 that includes both of them although I'm not sure thats the best option.

Vydra is better with a partner, and I'd say Sa would partner him with Blackman dropping to the bench, bit harsh on Nick as he's started well this season but there's no reason why he can't make an impact off the bench when playing as a striker (he is not a winger)

Say for example if Sa hasn't scored for 2 games but Blackman came off the bench and scored in the last game then perhaps Blackman would get to start in the next game (alongside the free scoring Vydra)

Think we will see the wingers and midfielders being moved around a bit too based on performance, this is just squad rotation really and its certainly a good thing to have providing the replacements are good, which I think ours will be.

Wondering if we will see Vydra up top with Paizon sat in behind, as the no 10 or the central of three attackers (including McCleary and Hurtado / John)?

I don't know what the deal was with the Murray situation but normally it means a fee has been pre-arranged, if we decide to pay it then the other team must accept.

It means, VYDRA will cost Royals £10 mill if we get promotion, and want to keep him,

The deal was boasted as 'option to buy', providing the player picked us, no other team came in for him and the parent team wanted to sell.

So a loan, really. Option to buy is meaningless, imo.

On another note, I can't for the life of me figure out how all these players are going to line up!

I guess usual back five, Williams and Quin in the middle, Hurtado and McCleary wide, Sa and Vydra up front? But that leaves out:

Fernandez
John
Piazon
Norwood

I suppose the loanees like Piazon and John could be considered cover but on paper they sound like they should be starting.

Do we drop Sa and squeeze in an attacking mid? Do we drop Williams or Quin to make room for a bit of creativity while keeping two upfront? Can McCleary consider himself first choice anymore?

Providing everyone can be kept happy, it's a nice problem to have.

One of them will turn out to be dogshit and one of them will keep picking up niggling injuries.

Take those away and it doesn't seem like such a problem, particularly with so many games in the Championship and the associated injuries, fatigue, and suspensions which will allow us to make full use of our squad..

Royal Rother Well I suppose it's all quite exciting in its way but the disconnect between (this) fan and club has grown again.

Ola John? Do me a favour.

And how many games have you been to over the last couple of seasons? Are you really the kind of fan that the club is really going to be worried about?

On the general theme of players, the connection with the fans and the soul of the club, that's something that modern football has pretty much culled over time anyway. Players are passing through clubs and chasing the money elsewhere more than ever and that's just a fact of life these days, it's just the world we now live in.

Not bad thanks mush, nice to see you.

More than anything I'm looking forward to the 0-1 reverse at home to Ipswich a week Friday and the MELTDOWN on here.

Samesies. It's annoying that the next game is on the telly. What a pickle.

Do you reckon we'll get to another semi-final this year? Might just wait for that one.
