Thought John and Hurtado were both left sided wingers?

The only certainty is that Mick McCarthy and the Sky commentary team won't have any more of a clue than we do as to who will line up where for the next match.
Interesting times ...

Changes will be gradual.

SCIAG
Maguire And why turn down signing decent players just because poor old Fosu and Stacey want a game? If they were good enough they'd get in.

This sounds solid, but it really isn't. Look at Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Kevin De Bruyne, Danny Welbeck, Juan Mata. Closer to home, Simon Cox, Michail Antonio, Charlie Austin.

If Chelsea had played Matic rather than signed Ramires, they'd have got a better player and saved £50m on two signings. If they'd played De Bruyne instead of signing Schlurre and Willian, they would have saved £100m that they've spent on right wingers over the last two years (OK, they made about £40m of that back on the sales of De Bruyne and Schurrle), and ended up with a £55m right winger. If United had kept Pogba they wouldn't be being quoted £70m to re-sign him. If Madrid had kept Mata and encouraged his development, they wouldn't have had to spend £85m or whatever on Bale (not to mention Van Der Vaart, Kaka, Di Maria, and Drenthe).

Cox, Antonio, and particularly Austin have all shown that they are good enough to play in the Championship or even higher. Considering the competition for places, we were right to sell at least the first two, but the point remains that they're now good enough, and didn't get in.

Maybe playing Stacey 30 times this season would get us 10 extra points and lead to someone giving us £8m for him (it's not like there's no precedent)? But nope, we're gonna sign three new expensive wingers and leave him further from the first team than he's been since turning pro. What's the point in spending millions on a youth system if we're not prepared to let talented 19 year olds come off the bench?

Well argued, but you know full well that for every one of those examples I can give you ten where the youngster didn't go on to greater things. And I'd don't think you'd be putting cash on the chance of Stacey getting us an extra ten points this season.

So yes I take your point and yes there's a chance we're making a mistake but I don't think the likes of Clarke have the luxury of taking a punt on it. This is an unforgiving sport after all.

There is no bigger fan of Jack Stacey than Steve Clarke.

I can see both Stacey and Fosu going out on loan when the window opens.

Tshibola and Hector can be cited as good examples of what can happen following a successful loan stint elsewhere.....hope Kuhl really proves himself at Dundee, this is a good opportunity for him to show what he can do.

Our strongest 11 is obviously this one.

Al Habsi

Gunter McShane Ferdinand Taylor

Norwood Williams

Mcleary Piazon Hurtado

Vydra

Good luck to Clarke, he has a difficult job putting this team together. Big names are gonna be left out regularly. The team will be changing every week.

He could also do:

Bond

Gunter McShane Hector Obita

Hurtado Williams Quinn John

I have an idea of our best 11 going by how I would like to see us play but form, freshness and opposition will have a big influence on who starts (mainly in midfield and attack)
As for HRK, whilst many on here are dropping him right down the pecking with all the new arrivals I have a strong feeling he is going to have a good season.

The choice of team to play Ipswich will be affected by International returns and lack of training sessions with their team mates.

Must be doubts against Hector, Hurtado and Williams.

There is certainly a difference between our strongest XI and the right team for the next couple of games.

so we cant buy anyone, and instead must wait 10+ years for our own players to become good enough?
