Shame we cannot name it after our record-keeping keeper, Steve Death...

THE STADIUM OF DEATH

might be better to name our new training facilities THE DEATH CAMP...

Well no new sponsor has been announced so they are obviously struggling on this.
I have therefore sent Lady Sasima a proposal.
£50 (cash) and I will let them name it after me.
The Nameless Stadium would work wouldn't it ?

Whilst this is an obvious decision that makes business sense, it's one of the things I hate about modern football and business whether everything has a soulless (usually) morally dubious sponsor daubed all over it as crass commercialisation.

Coppelled_Streets I have however never been in favour of SJM having his name over the stadium and across the seats! Many neutrals wouldn't know that stadium was the home of Reading Football Club!

err... so naming the stadium after the current chairman, the only Reading FC chairman that neutrals would have heard of, is a bad thing thing because people wouldn't associate the stadium with Reading FC?

Yet naming the stadium after a corporate sponsor that has nothing at all to to with Reading or Reading FC is a good thing?

Did you also refuse to call Ninian Park "Ninian Park" on account of that ground being named after a chairman?

Dont i recall a fans vote for the Stadium Name back when it was built?
I dont believe many would have voted for "The Madejski Stadium".
It was named after the man himself by the man himself.

Move on and take the money just as he has......

Although most people associated with it have always said the name was suggested by others. And given how much Madejski did for us you'd have to be a moron to begrudge him naming the stadium after himself anyway.

I liked Smallmead for the record, but it was named the Madejski, so that's what it'll always be to me.

Yeah we don't like it, but it makes sense.

It will still be known as the Madejski and everyone will call it that anyway, just like everyone still calls the 'Sports Direct Arena' - 'St James Park' for example

How many neutrals go to a stadium in Reading covered in Reading FC badges and have no idea which club are based there?

The seats are only visible when the stand is empty so it's kind of irrelevant.

It's a shame we no longer have the Huntley & Palmer connection as playing at the Biscuit Barrell/Biscuit Tin has a nice ring to it
