Team for Derby (H)

by Steve_Upper_West » 14 Sep 2015 13:13

Assuming no injuries should SC be picking the same team that started against Ipswich?
You would not expect Williams to be on the bench again, but who would give way - surely not Tish after his display on Friday?

Agreed, assuming there is no injurys then I'm guessing he will pick the same 11

I'd have Taylor on the bench I think. Was a bit worrying when it looked like O-Beats was gonna have to come off. Spose we'd have gone Hec at RB and Gunts at LB.

Should he reward the players who played so well, or make the point that we have strength in depth and no one can assume their place is guaranteed ?
I can't see anyone who started and doesn't deserve to be in the team but I also think Williams should start, McCleary is too good to leave on the bench and Piazon and John are contenders . You'd also think Hurtado and Hernandez won't be happy not being in the 16.
It's tough being a manager.

I'd maybe drop Norwood for costing me £60 with that wonder goal.

Reckon he'll put Williams in for Tish.

I'd like to see exactly the same team start again.

I think Williams for Tish is the one possibility, except for me Tish is looking extremely comfortable in the team and a regular starting role could see him develop into a very good player.

SC has spoke about not making too many changes from the Brentford winning team , and made just one Vydra for HRK, so I suspect the same eleven to start vs. Derby,

What to do with Williams? -possibilities are in for Quinn or Tish but both played their part in the in wins and justify their place.

I agree. Derby would offer him a much sterner test then Ipswich did but I've seen nothing to suggest he wouldn't handle it. I just hope Clarke doesn't make wholesale changes, he went through a stage last year of making weird changes to a winning team which only added to our inconsistency and we'd end up losing. With the amount of talent we have not in the side he's going to have a tough job keeping everyone happy - I hope he gets the balance right.

I'd leave Tish in and put Williams in for Quinn. Adds a little more steel to the midfield, and Quinn would be useful off the bench in the second half. I'd like to see what Hurtado, John and Piazon can do but there's no sense changing up the team too much so I think they'll have to make do with the bench for now.

I would imagine Clarke will be a rather different manager now. He's got a significantly better group of players with the balance of skills he wants and a clear objective. Last season he was juggling a weird mix of players with no proper target beyond avoiding a highly unlikely relegation. I know some posters don't rate him, I think he's making the right moves and his proper tenure starts now....

SC picks a team he feels can win the game therefore there could be several changes depending on what he thinks is the best system to get the 3 points off of Derby.

Personally I'd have the same 11 starting but I'm fairly sure at least Williams will be in for Tish and possibly McLeary for Quinn.

They'll be unchanged I think. But the only one I would consider is Williams for Quinn and sit him in front of the back four for extra protection against a better strikeforce. Allows Norwood to get a bit further forward too.

Wouldn't that mean pretty much 424 ?

Suicidally bold surely ?

I'd thing dropping Tish would send out the wrong message.

It will show that good performances will be rewarded with keeping your place. In turn that will hopefully raise performance levels.

For me, McShane was the weakest link last Friday. Didn't he have some sort of thigh muscle problem that prevented him from playing for Ireland during the international break? He's normally so good (based on a limited number of appearances so far). Maybe time to rest him for another match?

I'd put both Williams and Quinn in, because it makes me feel like I'm watching the late 90s Reading again. And Taylor. Maybe we should buy Rickie Lambert too.
