Basingstoke Royal Spotted in the hotel this afternoon with Nick Hammond.

Perhaps he is replacing clarke.
Perhaps he was meeting a friend he used to work with for a drink, It would be rude not to if you were in the area on business anyway.

Disagree. I think he worked at reading because he'd been here for so long and the relationship between him and the players was so good that everyone played out of their skins for him. Was found out hugely in the prem and tactically naive.

Absolute legend? 100%
Good coach/manager? Not for me.

*gets shot

the premiere league is very difficult with a substandard squad
many promoted teams struggle.

anyone who could take us up ahead of saints and west ham that year is clearly a very good manager and coach.
imo

I feel he was a good man manager and a good fit for reading.

Didn't work at Leeds and if he's such a good manager why hasn't he got another job since?

In so many games of our promotion season we were second best and by some distance.

lol

you don't win the championship over 38 games by being second best.
he set the team up exactly how it was required to get the absolute maximum from the players available to him.
that sir, is good management.
& possession alone doesn't win you the league.

You have not had the greatest 2 days CountryRoyal have you?

How McDermott got Reading up over 38 games with the team shown below (versus West Ham) is some form of miracle. A proper man manager uses the tools available to him in order to get the best results. In his case promotion. = Great manager

01 Federici
05 Pearce
17 Gorkss
23 Harte
24 Cummings
04 Karacan
08 Leigertwood
11 McAnuff
14 Kebe
10 Hunt
33 Roberts

McD 10/1 to take the Posh job. Do you think he'll fancy taking it on? Good odds but not convinced our ex millionaire manager will be tempted by Posh but worth a little flutter... Maybe?

2 pay offs. 1 from us after signing a new deal after Wolves interest and earning a prem promotion bonus then sacked mid way through the deal in the Prem. Appointed Leeds manger May-ish 2013 - moved on mid 2014. I'd wager he tucked at least a mil away from those 2 little "sorry Brian's"..good luck to him. Still think he could do a job for us under Clarke.

He may not have a million in the bank but even a lower table Premiership manager would be handsomely rewarded. I'd be surprised if he wasn't on at least 500,000 a year before he got the push. Compensation would have probably pushed that single year to over the million mark.
