I know there's a long way to go yet, but Brighton's 21 points from 9 games isn't shabby. If they kept that going over the course of the season they'd be on 107. Same for Burton in League 1.

Yeah but Brighton are shit and will be lucky to be in the playoffs come the end of the season.

106 is there for a reason and it won't be best anytime soon.

If they've got 42 after 18 matches, I might start raising an eyebrow. And they'd still have get better through the winter to account for the inevitable tail off in results at the end of the season.

Anyone who gets more than 106 points will thoroughly deserve it.

You don't amass that amount of points without being the best team in the division.

I just can't see it happening this year.

You'd have thought Sunderland really deserved to keep the 105 record for longer than they did, we've kept the 106 record for 10 years and keep saying it won't be broken for a long time, which is probably true, their record only lasted 7 years.

Any Sunderland fans I've met have never had a problem with the 106 - they've quite gracious about it.

I have to say it was quite nice when they bookended the points records with 15 in the PL and 105 in the Championship.

I liked the symmetry

106 looking pretty safe already this season. Brighton undefeated but drawing every other week, they wont get close.

Next Season could prove a test for the record. Some big clubs down the bottom of the Prem, one of them could do a Newcastle next year and put the record under a bit of threat. I think that's the most likely way our record will go.
