ayjaydee Was given a damning report on Cardwell at Woking by a mate at work who watches them regularly and knows his non league stuff. His verdict after the few games there is crap, for a big lad can't jump/head a ball and he seriously believes that he has no chance of making the grade much above Conference level.
I've not seen him play so am in no position to argue with him.
Any thoughts from the regular Academy watchers?

Tbf Non League football is so substandard it's difficult to judge a players ability to "make it" in the pro game. Must be hard to motivate yourself to play in front of a few of prog listeners dressed in Macs whilst simultaneously being kicked in the air by plodding amateur 'Footballers'.

Playing at a level higher then Hector was at his age, I know not really comparable but a few Woking fans getting upset that he isn't their oxf*rd messiah isn't going to bother me.

Still early days, and as posted before, if it is an attitude problem then it shouldn't be hard to drill out of him.

To be honest that doesn't sound like the Cardwell I've seen.
He has always looked like a trier, lack of effort has not been an issue. He's also had decent skill levels. Sometimes a loan just doesn't work, could be lots of reasons why. But if the reason lies with Cardwell someone at Reading needs to get it sorted. If the reason lies with Woking we'd be better off calling him back before they ruin him.

maybe he thinks Woking is beneath him and he cant be oxf*rd. Horrible attitude to have but wouldn't be the first player...

In better news, the u18's captain Josh Barrett signed pro terms with the club yesterday. Seen him a few times and looks very promising, so it's good to see him tied down early doors.

Thanks for that information, Winch. Another very promising player tied down enhances my view that the future is looking even brighter. :)

Saw Rob Dickie for Cheltenham V Braintree town tonight. Seemed alright, a little lumbered but won a lot in the air. Got a booking but seemed harsh.

Cardwell dropped from the squad completely for Woking's 3 nil win away at second bottom Halifax on Saturday.

U18s scored a last minute goal to beat Fulham 2-1 at the weekend. Gab Osho got a goal but can't find out who scored the other.

The language the managers use is refreshingly different down there...

Dean Brennan “We played Reading a few weeks ago in a practice game and they battered us 3-0."

Presuming he's recovered from his injury, Jack's another that needs to have a loan or two somewhere....
