Ian Royal Obita 6 looked involved in their first but attacked well
Ferdinand 4 looked to be at some degree of fault for both goals. Missed Hector

I would say Obita was at fault for both. Sloppy touch completley wrong footing ferdinand and he was 2 yards behind ferdinand and kept Wells onside

+100

I am not sure why he was recalled to be honest, taylor played well against brighton

Worst game seen Williams play for a while. Alex looked class. Piazon and Obita were poor throughout

Armadillo Roadkill excellent Ferdinand

         Dogshite and clearly off the pace tonight. For those who count Hector's aimless hoofs.. Try 6 for Ferdinand last night

Hmm, looks like you've found a subtle and eloquent way of expressing disagreement. Nice one.

In my opinion (and I state is an an opinion, not as incontrovertible fact) Ferdinand is always in the right position. He intercepts just about everything. He never takes any chances. If he has time, he'll look to pick out a nice short pass. If he hasn't, he'll go for safety.

The only time he gets caught out is when another Reading player does something totally unexpected and inappropriate, meaning his reading of the game is thrown and he can't recover. Jordan Obita for both the first and second Huddersfield goals.

My contention is the ability for a centre half to do that in one game is good, to do it in every game without fail is excellent.

That seems harsh. I thought with the resources he had they did alright last night. What were their board thinking, they were going to come here and beat us 3 -0?

If you look on their forums it's been a long time coming, the surprising thing is that it came after probably their best performance and the managers best selection, but obviously the decision was made before.

Pepe the Horseman Sick of the one touch football around the box. Trying to be too cute. Just take a touch and hit it.

Looked like Ferdinand was keeping Wells on for the second (although others have said it was Obita). Thought he played well second half though, not that he had much to do.

It was very definitely Obita who was clearly asleep for both their first and second goal. He then made himself look even more of a pratt by waving his arm around and having a right go at the lino, whilst there was relatively little sign of protest from his team mates. Clearly the lino was paying more attention to our defensive line than Obita! Further signs that the lino got it right was that the criticism of him from the crowd was pretty muted - indeed Obita appeared more annoyed than the crowd!

To make matters worse, Obita then tried to get himself sent off when soon after he deliberately and petulantly brushed past the 'offending' lino knocking his flag out of his hand. He was really lucky that lino chose not to make too much of it and last night's ref was a complete pratt who didn't seem keen to dish out red cards (e.g. the failure to send off their guy who went in hard and late straight through the back of Blackman).

JC
WoodleyRoyal The pitch has been reduced in width this season and quite considerably, couple of feet either side i reckon, Clarke clearly want to focus on going through the middle which makes his starting lineup of having two wide men even more baffling

Do you know that as a fact?

I believe Clarke has stated that the pitch is the same width and that super sleuth Dellor has checked it in pictures and also states that it is unchanged.

However, the question remains; why does Clarke have so many wingers in the squad when he so often has his team playing narrow or sticks Blackman wide?

Brought my m8 to the game who is a Burnley STH living down here but couldn't make it to their game. Not exactly surprising but he said the Reading he saw beat Burnley was an entirely different look to the first half ... yea, I know - no sh*t, but 100% true.

For a team of skilled players - which they are - I think they should all be disappointed with the recent performances. Fulham away - points dropped and a pure collapse of the team, Huddersfield last night - points dropped. If we're serious about promotion then we should be taking these points and finishing games like Hull, Burnley, Boro are doing.

Piazon was utter tripe last night and I don't think he should be starting any games at present

Which defender was it who stopped, appealing for off side which wasn't given and then they scored? I was sure it was Ferdinand but someone else on here said it was Obita? Either way, that's unacceptable on every level ... play to the fecking whistle

Like others, the "trying-to-be-too-clever-by-passing-100000-times" is getting annoying. It's good they can do it, but it's ineffective as at times we're just passing around sideways with no end product.

Referee I thought was an utter disgrace in terms of his handling of the games. LONG periods of stoppages when in fact they should be short, decisions made, play resumed. Him stopping play as Williams was running forward was poor, and I don't get why they did a drop ball.

Time wasting - I don't usually complain about this as I think it's very hypocritical and it's something Reading have done too at times. But sometimes teams take the pish. The keeper last night I thought should have got a yellow, and so too should one of their other players. All this... player stops and goes for a drink shit. The start after one of the goals, with them in the centre circle after going for a team drink, WHAT THE FECK?!

Powell has been sacked...

Expect Jason Roberts to blame racism and a deliberate ploy to limit Black manager opportunities in the coming days.

Tim Dellor asked SC about that a few weeks ago and SC said the pitch had not been altered.

fred sharpes nose AAH - feel comfortable with him there of the two we have. Did ok

Gunter - did ok
Ferdinand - invisible 1st half grew into the game, but looked lost at times. Rusty
McShane - should have got the physio on just before their 2nd - he struggled and they scored.

:? How did that have any bearing on Obita falling asleep and playing their man on side?

If it's the incident I recall, McShane got injured just as they won a corner. He refused treatment when the ref offered to bring the physio on because he clearly didn't want to be off the pitch as we were defending a corner. My son and I then joked that, having insisted on staying on, he would probably score an own goal from that corner but he didn't and the danger was cleared.

For the second I think Ferdy raised his hand only to see Obita standing about 2 yards behind him playing Wells onside.

For the first Obita played the ball inside to Ferdy but woefully behind him who lost out to the striker. AAH then seemed to come out then stopped.

So all round cr*p defending me thinks.

After that too much sideways passing in our half. Second half was much the same but further up the pitch. Not enough crosses, but having said that we always seemed to lack bodies in the box, so when someone did get a chance to cross there was no one to cross to! As I think someone else said, Blackman was too deep and Vydra muscled out.

They need a kick up hte *rse or else we won't even be top 10 by the end of the season. First half last night was more like last season, but at least Clarke changed it at half-time and it was better (hard not to be though).

Oh and Piazon was summed up by a shoulder to shoulder challenge in the first half where he was sent sprawling, too lightweight for this div and the game seems to pass him by all the time. <Grits teeth> I think we're missing HRK out on the left.

I accept my thread deserves to be beaten by Ian's (Ian's ffs) and thank those that did contribute.

Interesting comments on this thread. All very different from the start of October when many on here were talking with certainty about what a great side we had and how the top 2 was a distinct probability. I guess some people jump the gun too quickly.

My concern, as aired on the match thread, is that we have spent a pretty penny in the summer. Would a midtable finish be good enough :?:

Said last night how this poor run of form has coincided with HRK's absence since the Welsh got him crocked

FWI obita was very poor last night, defensively at least and considering that was the difference between us getting a win or a draw it's pretty relevant, amazed to see so many forgiving him based on his offensive qualities. Which leads me to my main beef with last night, towards the end if we'd just tried getting men in the box and putting some crosses in something might have happened but it seems Clarke won't let them do that so we just end up watching tippy-tappy football in front of the opposition area that inevitably is broken up by the defence,

Oh and 'greed with others who've slagged off the ref, that whole stopping play to let the man back on might be the most inept thing I've seen an official do. Not too concerned about time wasting though, I quite enjoyed hearing idiots near me getting rattled as the keeper took his goal kicks from the exact same spot every time, there was some fantastic foaming at the mouth when Gunts deliberately placed theball and the keeper moved it, which people took as a heinous act. Ref should of blown for the restart while the Huddersfield players were all having a drink mind you
