Rapids' designated player Kevin Doyle made a name for himself at Reading, scoring 55 goals in 157 games there between 2005 and 2009, and helping lead them to promotion to the Premier League in 2006.

Asked on Twitter what he thought of his teammate, Doyle said Powers is a vegan, but a very good player.

I really like Dillon - he's fast and powerful. MLS has become a lot faster in terms of moving the ball so he's used to having to stay aggressive and not sit on the ball too long.

Williams is out of contract at the end of the season isn't he? I'd imagine he's also one of the highest paid players in the squad. If Powers is cheaper and less injury prone then you would have to look at this as a positive move.

I know nothing about Powers but I'd be surprised if he was a better player than Williams. He'd surely be out of the MLS and in Europe already if he was?

This is the type of move I like to see us making - a relatively inexpensive punt on someone who obviously has something to offer.

If it works out well, then great news. If doesn't, we haven't wasted a whole lot of time or cash.
