Sounds a bit McGhee-esque at the moment - I'm going. ... No wait, I'm staying ...... No wait, ....

Given that there is now 16 pages of discussion about his successor on the internet, I think he's contractually obliged to leave.

^ This. Cant see how he would have been looking to go and then told them no after initial talks as he would have known what the likely offer was there through agents talking

Awkward times in the Clarke household tonight (if it is true that his wife has been on this portal today anonymously saying she hopes he leaves)

Lets be honest, if we give permission to another club in our division to talk to our manager about joining them then either...

A) We know they've already spoken to said manager
B) We don't know what the oxf*rd we're doing
C) We're not bothered whether the manager goes or not

Indeed. If we gave permission for them to talk to him Clarke's hardly going to be feeling wanted here and will want to see what they have to offer.

Pearson turned the job down too

My only thinking is:
A) The club expect promotion this season
B) They will deal with all transfers, the manager is in fact a coach
C) There isn't actually any money to spend

So we're replacing Steve Clarke with Steve Clarke?

This all smacks a little of Massimo Cellino.
