Is Kuhl likely to do a good enough job, or is he a sticking plaster?

Don't get the sherwood hate. Did fine at Spurs, but the club had ridiculous expectations. Kept a toss Villa side up and then struggled with oxf*rd all to work with.

Not exactly inspiring, but a better track record than Clarke had.

No stand out candidates for me.

Winston Smith
TBM He got results though

And he saved Villa last season with a team worse than what they have this season

My understanding of his time at Spurs was 'beat the teams he should easily have beaten, lost to the teams that were challenging them for where they wanted to finish in the league, used odd formations and tactics, his team played mind numbingly bad football, fell out with players'.

I am no Spurs fan so may be wrong

Sounds like the last 2 Reading managers ...

spent £52M. 5th highest spending club in the PL during the summer

Sherwood would be a disaster, this would be an awful appointment and in 6 months we would be where we are now again with even more compo paid out.

Leicester fans and players loved Pearson. Some on here say he's a nutter but realistically, he reacted badly to a BBC reporter who was clearly trying to bait him and had a little scuffle on the side lines with an opposition player. That's really all he did.

He knows how to play decent football and build successful sides. He has achieved promotions and knows how to keep teams up in the Prem.

His name is only really soured because of what his son did on tour.

Why anyone wouldn't want Pearson is beyond me.

Ouch. Ok then. Still think he's not as bad as people make out. Not saying i want him mind you.

I just hope whoever gets the job gets backing from the fans and starts ok. The last thing we need is more pointscoring splitting us about who shouldn't have been sacked years ago.

The accounts from Leicester fans about Pearson are worth bearing in mind. If it has to be one of the front runners, he seems most suitable from a footballing point of view. Relationships with the board may be problematic though.

Rowett would be my second choice. The sentimental side of me wouldn't say no to Brian either.

Just not Sherwood, Warnock or McCleish (shudder)

Parky is now second favourite btw, but still a long way off Pearson.

Did he have a poor relationship with the Leicester board then?

The New Manager Poll

by Sutekh » 04 Dec 2015 12:00

I am thinking Reading will only look at management currently unemployed as they're already having to shell out compensation for SC and KK plus an imminent January transfer window so will not want to add more to it if it can be avoided especially with quite a few decent names out there...

Posted on the other thread that Pearson would be my first choice of the realistic options, and I stand by that.

But I would love it, love it..

If we could get Mark Warburton.

Rowett is a Brummie who played for, and is now managing his boyhood club. No chance he'd move to a club that wasn't a huge step up from that, especially as things are going well at the Blues.

Sir Steve to be interim for the rest of the season, he will gracefully step down after guiding us to our third championship title.

Pep Guardiola will want the chance to prove he can do the impossible and turn little old reading into a footballing collosus and do the treble in his first season, champions league winners the next, the only domestic club to ever win the World Cup soon after.

Or we're going to get Avram Grant and finish 17th.

Moyes (unrealistic) > Pearson (possible mental) > Kuhl (inexperienced) > Coppell (heart over head) > Sherwood (not sophisticated) Parky (not done it high enough) > McDermott (squad doesn't suit, not done it elsewhere)
