Libertine I always thought Clarke only looked at Reading as a stepping stone to get a bigger job. Part of that process though would have been being successful here first. Which he wasn't.
I am not really fond of the managerial merry-go-round the past few seasons but this one the board had no choice on. He lost the faith of the board, the players and the fans. He had to go...just hoping we can finally hire someone who is committed to Reading and not another mercenary.

Hoop Blah Right wing, as in a right sided attacker who isn't a right midfielder.
He was on the right, as an attacking player with, as you say, licence to come in and do what he's always done, play for himself and try and work a shot pretty much every time he had the ball.
Call it what you like, my point was that he wasn't playing through the middle apart from the odd occasion. The rest is semantics.

Everyone in the game is mercenary.

melonhead of course he was. there is no manager on earth who is out there eying the reading job as the future pinnacle of his career.
Dr_Hfuhruhurr Its been a case of ‘be careful what you wish for’ on here this week as every call for the manager’s head seemed to ignore the price tag attached to it. But if the Thais have the money, then let them do it, get angry about the financial implications for the evening, and then wake up and see it as an opportunity and put it all in the past. I will say that if he ends up at Fulham, then we’ve been royally played by someone (not sure whom) and Clarke will end up our least popular manager of the modern era.
Its moments like this that I wish that if we were going to be crap for three years, we should have been crap with Brian. Thanks Anton.

Bonfire Boy Not been able to to the Mad stad for a while (not from round 'ere) and can honestly say it was the worst game I've seen, I include witnessing a 4-1 thrashing by Bristol City many years ago in that. QPR were shockingly bad to, but the Reading players lacked passion, dare I say effort to, and the whole thing just felt wrong. Seemed to sum up Steve Clarke in fact, dour, uninteresting & passionless. Fans seemed totally apathetic towards Clarke, no atmosphere whatsoever, aimless long ball football & not a shot on target in 90 mins didn't help! I'm surprised there was 16'000 in there & no doubt crowds would've dropped further without this action being taken . The club have got this right, no question in my mind. Get Pearson in & put some fight back in the place, players need to share responsibility to & how we miss Quinn & Tshibola. Positives were Fernandez, HRK & John.

Apropros nothing at all - I note that the last 2 judas's we employed have never gone on to manage more club games at any one club than they have with us. (Fat Scottish Bastard managed 183 games with us, his next best was 163 at Millwall. Parjudas managed us for 212 games, his next best was Newcastle for 185 games).
The Scottish Charlatan has just managed to beat that little record by "managing" 60 games for WBA, whilst mismanaging 53 for us. Wonder what odds we'd get on him never managing more than 60 games for a single club in the English divisions?

Yeah but the huge club that is QPR brought with them a huge following, about 4/5 of which were dressed as blue seats.Ian RoyalBonfire Boy Not been able to to the Mad stad for a while (not from round 'ere) and can honestly say it was the worst game I've seen, I include witnessing a 4-1 thrashing by Bristol City many years ago in that. Got it, did seem more like 10/12'000 at most.....why would you have a ST & not go? Live on sky sports can't have helped, guess that won't happen again for a while at least after that 'entertainment'!
