Thought the older (about 25 and up) generation would appreciate this, had an interview with Graham Poll for the bwin news site and couldn't resist asking about the time he became a Reading hero...sending off two Premier League Southampton players, paving the way for Jamie Lambert to run the show and take us through.

Interesting about him refereeing QPR games despite being a fan. It must be hard to conceal your emotions in such a situation but fair play to do so and without bias, even on a sub-conscious level. That, for me, is the very definition of professionalism.

He isn't the only person to send someone off for an off the ball red card offence in the penalty area, then award a penalty; I'm 100% sure that the same thing happened to Stevie Richardson when we lost 4-1 at Orient in October 1989 in what was to be Branfoot's last game as our manager.

Correct, I was there although I wouldn't have remembered the exact year. Incident was drawn to ref's attention by lino, as play was down the other end by then.

In your experience as a contractor has an employer ever come up to you and said a rival company want to talk to you about a job vacancy they have, Do you want to go and talk to them?....... no? - I didn't think so. However this is what happened with Steve Clarke.

If it happened to me I would assume my employer was looking to get rid of me or at the very least didn't see me as important enough to hang on to, which means a contract extension would be unlikely so for my long term security I would opt to go and speak with them and who knows, maybe get a pay rise as well.... if it I decided the offer wasn't for me I would probably go back to see out my current contract but would not be as motivated as before.
