The logical decision. and one I fully support.

Brian often mentions that he fully believes that a system should fit the players you have rather than the other way round (unlike Adkins or Rodgers). We played differently with Sig and Long and once they went he reverted to 4-4-2 as that suited what we had. How right he was.

Yes the end was disappointing - but that was one month of terrible football after one month of football that saw his win premier League manager of the month. We can debate whether he is right for the Premier League once we get there. In terms of the right here right now there isn't anyone better than Brian.

Well I suppose this stint will prove whether he is able to manage as the expectation is that he will have money and can develop a squad along the lines of what he wants rather than what the lack of money dictates.

Do hope it goes well for him as really don't want to see what he did before tarnished.

As much as I don't like him, Arsene Wenger is no fool and knows a thing or two about football. Considering how Arsenal play, and the obvious faith he must place in McD to have him as head scout, that says to me he is obviously capable of spotting talent to play a style of football that isn't "hoofball". If he can do that, I have no doubt he can set up a team to do the same thing.

He was hamstrung massively by Anton in the premiership and I would further suggest the things going on behind the scenes probably made it impossible for him to do anything other than what he did with the team in the prem, anyone who was expecting anything other than us to go down that season was deluded, doesn't matter who was in charge, McD, Busby, Shankly, Ferguson, no one would have kept that team up. To expect him to have done anything other than fail at Leeds with that lunatic in charge is also just plain mental.

Not the most inspiring choice, perhaps not what we were expecting (if its announced) but its by no means a bad appointment! No worse than any of the other candidates.

It depends on the contract length. I said in another thread this morning/last night that I'd be happy if it was til the end of the season, we need to inject a bit of a feel good factor into the club and have someone who really cares about Reading. I don't think he's the answer long term though.

I can't remember how he got on with Blackman....i know he was the one who bought him, but we never really saw much of him play under Brain

When the possibility was first floated I was negative about it but now it's looking like it's happened I'm actually quite excited.

McD took a really average squad and very quickly built team spirit and turned around the performances. Think what he could do with these players - a much stronger squad IMHO.
