So delighted about this prospect, I'm making my first post since March 2013, when he was sacked and I threw my toys out of the pram.

He always stood out as a very decent bloke and a breath of fresh air in football's increasingly fetid swamp and even if the level of success he achieved during what continues to be (relatively) a golden period for this club may be beyond us now, if he goes about things in the same way (yes - the Reading way, it's not done us so badly), then I for one will be fine with that.

I do like Brian, and I have to admit to being happy we have someone with integrity again, but I can't shake the fact that he is still a manager with no plan b, who is far too nice for his own good, and he struggles managing players with big egos. This squad has a lot of them now! I just can't see it working out. I'll give him 18 months before we turf the poor bugger out again!

I also wonder if we'll see Jobi McAnuff return in a coaching capacity.

That's a slight exagration of the truth. He is well throught of, yes; but the fans are still very split on his sacking and his re-appointment. Give it a few months, perhaps a bad start to next season, and you watch those knifes come back out! Then watch the Thai owners get itchy feet again!

I can't help but feel this is one of those incidences where you should never go back!

I think McCarthy or Feds in on loan must be nailed on. Al Dropsi has made more clangers in his short time here than even Feds did in his entire RFC career - and that's saying something!
