This makes all the McD articles on GetReading even funnier

A cynic might think the local sports journalist was pushing for a return of Brian McDermott because Brian is media friendly and very open as opposed to the likes of Steve Clarke who made the job of filling the internet equivalent of column inches on the back pages hard work.

Not a chance of Bergkamp coming so can we all just agree to stop talking about him?

I think they want to delay him taking over until after Hull (which we'll probably lose).

Announce it Thursday next week, in time to train for Blackburn on the Sunday AT HOME.

This will then lead nicely into an unbeaten run until the end of the season when we will be crowned Champions and Brighton will finish in 22nd place.

Technically speaking, McDermott is a foreign manager right? He's Irish, Ireland aren't part of the UK.

Highly unlikely. As Watts himself said, Brian's time as the club was when he (Watts) wasn't covering RFC so he has no experience of working with him.

CholseyRoyal I agree there could me many reasons, but I should have thought if he were really keen on the job he would have sorted the family side out before agreeing to be interviewed. He must have doubts about something that was talked about be it back room staff, funding or maybe he wouldn't be in total control of the players. Who knows but odd that Charles was so confident he would take the job yesterday morning now someone is back tracking.

WHO IS BACK TRACKING?????!!!

Nothing has happened other than someone announcing through the media that BMcD is in line to take over. Nothing has changed has it? The only new announcement is that Kuhl will be managing on Saturday... that doesn't change a thing. Maybe they want the new manager (aka Brian) to have his first game at home? Or just want to not rush things.

Charles Watts for one :)

Technically speaking he's English.
Having Irish parents might mean you qualify to play football for Ireland but that's not the same as being Irish.

He has Irish parents so he's Irish. How does Irish + Irish = English? I get that there is the whole picking your nationality based on either birthplace or lineage but Brian has definitely in the past said he would love to manage Ireland, he's never said the same for England, that would suggest to me he believes he is Irish.

I think, technically he's what it says in his passport, not where he was born, if you want to be technical.

The Times reporting that Rodgers has ruled himself out of Swansea (and therefore us) because he is expecting to take over from Hodgson next summer.

He was born in Slough.
So whatever your argument he certainly isn't a 'foreign' manager
His international experience consists of one u18 appearance . For England.
He's obviously got pretty strong Irish connections, but you're struggling to make a case for local boy Brian to be a foreigner !

but both his parents are Irish. Irish blood + Irish blood does not = English blood.

You can be born in Venezuela and still be English, same way you can be born in Slough and still be Irish.
