winchester_royal Have to say, after talking myself into wanting Brian back over the past few days, I'm going to end up being fairly miffed if we end up bringing in another manager who has no affinity with the club, sees it as a stepping stone, and champions dull sideways football. I.e. Oscar Garcia.

Agreed. What's the longest stint he's had managing a club? From the outside, his Brighton team seemed fairly dull and he quit when they were beaten heavily in the play-offs.

Really hope McDermott is our first choice and that the club are doing everything possible to get it done.

You just seem to be trying to start a campaign against Watts that's all with all this #wattsmare bollox. He either called it wrong or was given the wrong info, so what? It's the media, it happens.

He's usually on point and a lot better than people we have had previously.

Leave it out.

If Fordham had made some of the gaffs Watts has made in the last few days then you would all be ready to march on the GR offices.

Who cares anyway? Are people's lives so dull and unfulfilled that they hang on the words of every update relating to this shit?

Had they already got McD Urz Yolo printed on their 15/16 replica jerseys?

Had they already dusted off their jester hats and blue face paint and created a facebook event (BYOB) for his arrival?

Seriously who oxf*rd cares.

They aren't very good journalists otherwise they'd be covering serious issues for a major international news organisation, as opposed to working for a second rate news paper, covering a second rate team, in a second rate league. Shit happens, get over it.

CountryRoyal I still don't understand why Luis Enrique is on there.

Because people are thick as shit and think he's Oscar Garcia.

'greed. Just wait and see what happens. It's not like their coverage will actually change who RFC decide to hire.

RG30 I don't understand why quite a few people on this thread have had breakdown's at Get Reading, Chronicle and BBC Berks.
Because (as in GetReadings' case) I don't like being lied/bullshitted to (see previous posts)...... But hey-ho, that was yesterday's news.

Someone must know where Brian is. Must live near him, see him in the post office, drink in his local? He hasn't disappeared off the face of the earth. Can't someone ask him his plans. Maybe he has Christmas shopping to do this weekend and can't start until Monday.

+1. Amazing how people can digress with time on their hands. A thread entitled 'Welcome back Brian' suddenly evolves into a dissertation on the merits of dual nationalities.

To be fair it's a thread welcoming back a bloke who hasn't actually come back yet so I'd say all bets are off.

Reckon Brian's people have played a blinder here.

Leaked to the local press that it's a done deal and creating such a groundswell of goodwill amongst the fan base that it's impossible to not appoint him. Brian now in the driving seat.

I had a similar thought, but along the lines of club leaks Brian's impending arrival to gauge reaction of the fans, sees it's not wholly positive, puts the deal on hold for a few days an leaks a few dodgy names in the process to make everybody realise that actually we do all want Brian back, and then announces his appointment that will be met with a reaction 300% more positive than it would have been 3 days earlier.

Sneaky lot these thais.

I'm going to stick my neck out & say he ain't coming.

Honestly if I was him, I wouldn't. Why give up a cushy, enjoyable job at a very well run club that have looked after him well........to come back to a place where he'll end up getting booed within 12-18 months?

Nah not for me. And I don't blame him either.
