As if Bibbo would return to Reading after the way he was unfairly treated. He should never have been allowed to leave, let alone him consider walking away from Arsenal for this mess of a club!

RoyalRuss86 I have heard from a reliable source that the reason that our beloved Brian hasn't signed on the line yet is due to Gunter!

Apparently him as a ring leader along with a number of other players have stood their ground to halt him arriving as the new boss.

Thoughts......

I find it hard to believe to be honestl

But in the unlikely event it is true, suffice to say that I'd want to have Brian McDermott rather than Chris Gunter at this football club any day of any week.

Yeah oxf*rd off Gunter.

If nothing else get McD back as a player manager and stick him at Right Back, he can't be any worse than what we have at the moment.

Won't be McDermott. Though getreading's story was accurate.

Club could end up in similar position to a couple of seasons back.

If this is true and McDermott does return, some of the players will either bedropped or off to pastures new

I hope this is resolved soon. You'd have thought they could have gone some way to sorting the replacement before they pulled the trigger. We are 'starting' to look a bit silly.

How are we? Kuhl's taken one game while we take the time to get this appointment right. I'd rather that than hand it to someone like Stephen fecking Hunt or Nigel Worthington...

Its not entirely the clubs fault, but I believe the initial press silliness about Brian, followed by a few days of nothing, is the reason we could look silly if this drags on a bit, especially if it turns out not to be Brian.

I generally agree though, its better to get it right, than get it done quick

It's funny how everyone suddenly has inside knowledge of the workings of the clubs higher echelons at a time like this...

If it is true I'll offer to drive them to the station. They forget the source of their privileged lifestyle. I do find it hard to believe though. Since Wales are doing so well, Gunter probably thinks he's a world class full back now.

I don't understand some of our fans re Gunter.

He's a decent player who would walk into any top half Championship side and can anyone honestly believe he would protest against our next management appointment?

Haters: Stick to slagging him off week in week out if it floats your boat but to say he's the reason for the delayed announcement of BM as our manager is oxf*rd stupid and a cheap swipe to fuel mob hate

Can we just get McDermott confirmed for goodness sake! Don't think there's a better man for the job than him at the moment.

Just so we all know where we stand, this sub-forum is for discussion of The Team, not its users.
Any off topic-post runs a risk of being deleted, and in particular, any posts by, replying to, or about certain users will be deleted on sight.
And that's my last word on the topic.

What I read says nothing about there not being a manager pretty much in place : "we want to get it right", "we are in constant contact", "hopefully we will be in a position to move forward in a few days". Its all just fluff - he could have said something much more concrete either way, those statements are holding statements that can cover him.

I suspect there could be a lot going on - McD, backroom, Arsenal, lots of Thai based owners who could be traveling, lawyers galore from all over the place, compensation, etc. etc. It only takes one of those links to raise a query and it could take days to sort - its not urgent (i.e. the club isn't about to fold). Either that or there has been an enormous cock up by (a) the press and its not McD or (b) the club who have pissed McD off and are now scrabbling around for a different candidate.

I'd like to think that if the "sources" that had McD anointed last week were wrong they would be briefing to the usual suspects to dampen down the McD story - just to prevent the inevitable "WTF?" scenario when the alternative is unveiled.

Charlie Watts on twitter saying the hold up is coming from the Thai end of the business as the UK decision makers were all for appointing BM last week. Speculation over Brian's back room staff, Gibbs at Spurs and Bibbo at Arsenal. I guess this will cost ££.

I hope this gets sorted soon with BM confirmed before Hull.

Quiet in here tonight.
