Sutekh yet have had nob all luck in front of goal

It's not luck

4 shots on target against Brentford - Scored 1
3 shots on target against Wolves - Scored 0
3 shots on target against Hull - Scored 1

It's not even the lack of quality in finishing... it's simply the lack of ATTEMPTS at finishing that's part of the issue. Reading seem determined to try to place like Barcelona, by pinging the ball around the pitch endlessly until there is a clear shot on goal.

As we all know, Reading unfortunately are not Barcelona... and so if the players at times just went for the shot, they would at least give the keeper a test.

Bobs, I think with a lack of confidence comes a fear of shooting. Nobody wants to be the one that misses. Seen it before at Reading, hopefully it will be something Brian can sort out. Whatever people felt about his arrival, this sort of thing takes time.

RoyalJack I wonder where Hector's mates are going New Years Eve? I'm sure he will be joining them, looked like he already knew. I watched him in the warm up, he was going through the motions. Burton and Reid were both watching on. When the players shook hands pre match, he was at the back of the queue and as the other all went to clap the crowd, he bent down, pulled his socks up, slowly, and then ambled into position without acknowledging the crowd.

I was really looking forward to the whistle to see if he interacted with the crowd, he didn't make it. He ran off the pitch quicker than he had moved since he 'moved' to Chelsea.

Let's hope Cooper slots in or Ferdinand gets back soon.

I never slag my players off and don't buy into pros not trying in matches. He actually performed better than I thought he would in the game, but his attitude is all wrong. It must either rub off on people that look up to him or rub players up the wrong way, like Williams who didn't stop running all day and probably ran home.

If you're talking about the final whistle you are either mistaken / weren't there / bullshitting - Hector was sent off in the 86th minute ...

Read it again.... I was looking forward to the final whistle.... He didn't make it...

Do you see??...

Ooops - misread that one. Got what you mean now ...

You're right - he did leggit off pretty quickly.

Strange thing is I dont see why he got the second yellow. Just watched the TV coverage and yep he goes over alright but he doesnt appeal or even look at the ref, he just gets straight back up and then the ref books him.

It was a pathetic dive, and considering the amount of times he turns round and has a pop at other players for going down cheaply he deserved a yellow for it.

Thought it was a very good game of football yesterday. Three cracking goals, a few hearty tackles, a red card, big crowd, lovely stuff.

Skim read this thread and I honestly have no clue who is trolling and who isn't. Slagging off McDermott after three matches has to be a troll, likewise whoever said we should have taken 9/9 points from those games :|

Also, the HRK hate is embarrassing. Bloke played alright yesterday. Why does there always have to be a scapegoat? If Sa comes back in and doesn't score for three games then it'll him in the crosshairs, just pathetic.

RoyalBlue I predicted at halftime that Hector would get sent off if he wasn't subbed and so it proved to be. IMO another questionable decision by McDermott as Hector was clearly walking a tightrope from early on in the 2nd half, after he escaped a second yellow for what seemed quite a bad foul under the nose of the East Stand lino.

Also, when the ref signalled advantage after the foul that subsequently got him his first yellow, Hector stood over the injured player berating him, rather than racing back into position!

I feel it's really unfair, harsh and wrong to blame McDermott for NOT subbing Hector at half time.

.

I didn't criticise him for not subbing Hector at half-time, I criticised him for not subbing him in the second half after he had been very lucky to escape a second yellow for a pretty reckless challenge on the East Stand touchline. His style of play tends to make him vulnerable to picking up yellows and he clearly was walking a tightrope from that moment onwards.

Also, his attitude yesterday was wrong and that was pretty visible to most. WTF was he playing at berating an injured player as play continued towards our goal without him? Completely unacceptable.

This.

Though just not sure HRK up front is a good idea.

Decent enough game. Fairly end to end and a couple of hard tackles early on set a lively feel to things.

Not a fan of HRK at all but have to admit he did OK yesterday. Made life difficult for their defenders and focused on bringing others into play.

Still yet to be convinced by Vydra & Piazon, the latter being just about the physically weakest sportsman I have ever seen, but there is time yet for them to make a big impact.

McShane still on track to be my POTS. The guy just rarely ever puts a foot wrong.

Bond makes me nervous. Is that the standard of goalkeeping at this level and we have just been spoilt over the last couple of decades?

windermere_royal welcome back to the messiah. totally and tactically f*cking useless, Liburn ahead of Sa, wtf are you thinking? I`m prepared to give baldy more time, but he`s started off very badly

We've had some relatively easy games (on paper) these past few weeks and looked poor, how long you give him ?

More than three games, we're not Real Madrid.

Sa has not scored in 9 games, spends most of his time diving, sitting on his backside when he doesn't get a decision. Personally I'd bring Samuel back and give him a chance ahead of Liburd but Sa can't expect to get on given his form and attitude when he is on the pitch.

Been saying that for ages ,Gotta ship out Sar,Hector,HRK, Piezo ,Liebum, etc, ASAP get some decent English players in. Whats this fascination with diving, cheating, spitting, biting, shirt pulling, cynical, foriegn players that plague our game?.

Is Mackie still available?.

The guy is 22 made just 9 appearances at Championship level. Can only get better. Like many of the team.

Could stay the same. Could get worse. Could get incorrectly arrested for a crime, sentenced to a long stay in prison and escapes in dramatic fashion.

I don't make him responsible for either goal, in fact he's kept us in games, unlike Oops Habsi !

LOL

Replace several players that were born in England but pledged their allegiance (for convenience) to another country with a guy who was born in England but chose to play for Scotland!

Also, IIRC Jamie Mackie wasn't averse to emphasising contact when the occasion demanded!

I was thinking SA had turned the corner under SC and even looked an aerial threat, Piazon has a bit of quality in front of goal but not sure he can get in ahead of Blackman ...

And LOL at all those who think they are better judges of Gunter's ability and performances than successive Wales team managers and a couple of Reading managers!
