Burton going so soon makes me nervous.. but Davies previous experience suggests Brian wants to continue with a passing game.

Agree with you there Ian, not many coaches/assistant managers leave a club within about a month and three matches of arriving ?

This was my post on welcome back Brian a couple of weeks back.

Hoop Blah Well I think it's good to have a manager who isn't just here for career progression, and it strikes me as a canny appointment to have Burton alongside him.

I hope they can also get a younger man in to work alongside those two and Kuhl with a possible view to succeeding McDermott from inside the club when he eventually leaves. Maybe Reid will hang around and be that man, but I'd guess he might just be a Clarke man who's days will be numbered.

I'm disappointed that Burton has gone, partly as I thought he'd bring some positive input himself, and partly because it worries me that he's gone so quickly.

I like the fact they've added a what sounds like a good young coach, kind of from within too, and in an idea world it will strengthen the potential for internal succession planning which I think gives the club a strong base for success and continuity (if this management team succeeds of course).

Yeah something has clearly happened. I wouldn't think it's anything to worry about from a club point of view though.

Burton is 63

So we've swapped a guy with almost 30 years experience at a high level for someone who's only previous coaching role was with the kids at some provincial club in New Zealand??

Awesome

There's a Swansea and Liverpool in Australia.

That's not relevant I know but just in case anyone was interested.

McDermott on the backroom staff
There is a backroom team in place at the moment and I’m going to meet them today. There will be one person that I will be bringing in – that will be Terry Burton, as my number-two. He used to manage Wimbledon and he has a fantastic CV as far as football is concerned. He is a terrific coach and he worked at Arsenal – he actually coached me when I was a young boy, and he looks younger that I do believe it or not!

So what the hell happened to see Burton leave so quickly?

That sounds pretty good stuff from him.

And I think the team could learn from his advice for fans on how to improve their tactical knowledge - look at where the opposition has left space and exploit that. There have been a fair few times I've seen us ignore the space this season and run at massed defenders or pass into players who are tightly marked.

Chris Davies not first choice for BM but was out of work - worrying. That said Chris has worked with some overpaid, talented, exciting players who under achieved at Liverpool so he should fit in well !

odd isn't it how nobody from the club is saying wtf has gone on. Very very unusual to hoof someone (presumably under contract) after only 3 games this suggests a big falling out to me ..
