melonhead Terry burton was on talksport with Danny Baker last night as new co-host.

Sounds like he just fancied the media work

An assistant manager woke up one morning and decided he would quite football and a decent salary so he can be on the radio a few hours every week for a fraction of his earnings. Of course he did!

I'm sure Royal Blue will accept that explanation graciously, and move on.

Just a transcript of the interview Brian gave Tim after the game.

It's clear Brian doesn't want to talk about it as both times he was asked the question he deflected it onto talking about Chris Davies.

Maybe Brian realised it wasn't going to work out having Burton as his assistant and made a swift call (early doors) to change things.

BM wants a certain culture within the club, maybe Burton disagreed? We'll never know the details for sure but whatever the reason it was concluded very quickly by BM and the club. If Brian felt that TB was not the man for him then he should be commended for putting his friendship to one side and quickly rectifying a mistake within the probation period of the appointed employment contract.

Burton is known for spitting his dummy out when not getting his own way and at 62 I'd be doubtful of finding too much flexibility with Terry Burton.

Can't decide if this thread is full of WUM's or just people who really struggle to understand life.

Ever been on holiday with a mate and released it was a big mistake?

Listen we'll never know the reason so I'm happy to take the positives and say whatever happened it was early doors so no harm done and Chris Davies seems like a good fit.

Heard from a reliable source that the new assistant manager will be Bobo Balde.

Maybe Burton called McD out on playing HRK every game so McD sacked him

It was pretty typical of the way McDermott avoids a question quite nicely when he wants to. He did the same thing with the question about which is Blackman's strongest position. He didn't really answer it at all but waffled on for ages about something else, the group and the need for the identity I think it was, before saying he didn't want to pigeon hole any player.

Something must've happened to bring about such a quick change, whether that was just Burton realising he didn't really have the heart for it or something more negative like a fall out behind the scenes. We probably won't find out but it's a little odd that he's jacked it in to pursue another project yet they've not even given that other project a cursory mention.

Am I missing something? Because that article says sweet FA about why Burton left. It barely even mentions him.

Forbury Lion Didn't something similar happen with Frank Lampard Snr? Also John Gorman?

Oh yes, I do remember John Gorman. With him as Alan Pardew's right hand man, our results were pretty shit. Glenn Hoddle got a job somewhere (can't remember, was it Southampton?) and he crooked his finger at Gorman and he was off! We didn't shed any tears.....and in came one Martin Allen and the rest was history. Sorry, that wasn't the end of it, Pardew did sack Allen before he got sacked himself and promoted Kevin Dillon.

Pardew got sacked did he? How fortunate for him that West ham had already offered him a job then.
