2 contracts on the table which he had no intention of signing.

His demeanour past few games has said it all.

He was the ultimate boo boy last season and the start of this.

He does not want to be here.

£3 million with six months of contract left is a cracking piece of business.

The club will reinvest in a striker. Let's hope we get lucky.

Best wishes Nick Blackman.

howser I look forward to the next 48 hours when we name our new striker, as we wouldn't have let Blackman go if we didn't have a replacement ready to come in, after all that would be pretty stupid wouldn't it ???

Like sacking a manager with no replacement lined up, oh wait ...

I felt duty bound to tip off my Dreary supporting client last night as follows:

"Don’t have *any*expectations and if he has a few decent games be thankful.

Decent free kick specialist. Left footed, reasonably quick, best played out wide on the right and he *always* cuts in. Never passes. Massive ego. Universally disliked in the RFC squad.

Considered views from Hobnob Anyone? pretty much spot on. (I particularly like the Pearce comment… )"

I included a choice selection of observations from Dixieroyal, among others.

The response this morning brought a smirk: "Sounds like he will fit in with our forward line perfectly! Inconsistent, up their own arses … Tom Ince will get on with him really well!!!"

Well I wish our forward line up was as inconsistent as theirs then .... (Derby are second in the table)

Bargain signing at 1.5m for someone more than likely to grab 20 goals this season!

Looking forward to Derby's annual choke and Blackman having a ding dong with their fans

I predict it'll come towards the end of April - back to back they've got Bristol City (SC spat to continue?) at home, followed by Sheff Wed at home - I'm sure their fans will give him a warm reception, considering he's reported to have snubbed them.

So i'm guessing this will be the 2nd season in a row where our top goal scorer, come the end of the season, will be someone who only played for the first 5 months

Extended-Phenotype
genome Not buying all this hogwash about us throwing in the towel.

Hardly a sign of intent selling just about the only goal threat we have in a team who can barely score

What seemed like a mission looks nigh on impossible now

You don't know who we're going to get in this month though.

Let's face it, start of the season everyone on this board would have snatched Derby's hand off if they'd offered that money for him. Well done to Blackman for making himself an asset with value. Thanks for the goals, good luck in the future.

This deal will also allow us the chance to potentially re-invest in the first team this month, helping the manager to bolster his squad should the right opportunities arise during the transfer window.”

Chief Executive Nigel Howe said, “The club made extensive efforts to negotiate a new contract with Nick over the course of the last four or five months but no conclusion was forthcoming, so with his current deal due to expire this summer we believe this move is the right thing for all parties concerned.

“This deal will also allow us the chance to potentially re-invest in the first team this month, helping the manager to bolster his squad should the right opportunities arise during the transfer window.”
