Not being absolutely clueless and totally out of his depth would have been a good start.

Then again, if Perez wasn't a complete idiot and sacked the best manager in the world last summer then Benitez would have been at West Ham.

their fans were BOOOOOOing him, they have been awful (by their standards) this season and, kind of as Sandman alludes to, their fans were not happy with Ancelotti leaving in the summer.

Benitez won 17 of 25 games. Since Perez's public backing, they had won 2 and drawn 1, and scored 15 goals.
He was sacked because he lost 4-0 to Barcelona. There's not much more to it than that.

Agreed on your second point though.

It's certainly beaten the Steve Clarke sacking for joke of the season.

17 of 25 is not good enough at Real Madrid. At other clubs maybe, but not in Madrid. They scored 10 goals in one game when the opposition were down to 9 men and if it wasn't for that they would not be anywhere near the top scorer charts. Too many 0-0 draws, isolating the "BBC" and building the team around Bale were just three of the things that did for him.

Perhaps they could - but 1 point off the play-offs was pretty decent.

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola says he is leaving the German club to manage in England

So where do we reckon he'll end up, obviously it'll be either Utd, City, Chelsea or Arsenal - i'm guessing Utd will want him but he will favour City

German media already said they know he has an agreement to take over at City in the summer.

Bayern fans I spoke with were all a bit meh over Pep. said he had not done anything revolutionary at their club and would not be remembered as any kind of great manager.

Agree with above. I feel the Bayern team under Jupp Heynckes was better.

He'll probably end up at City. I really hope City win the league in a funny kind of way as it'll be one of the harshest sackings of all time. You can just see the drivel coming out of City if Pep goes there.

"We want to be better in Europe". "We want to go to the next level".

harsher than sacking Di Matteo after 8 months in charge in November 2012? In that period they won the FA Cup and the Champions League. Decent bloke too.

He was replaced by Benitez for the totallolz.

AthleticoSpizz Marine? Has he not heard of AFC Liverpool?
At least Marine is right by a railway station outside of Liverpool too

I went on a date that ended up in a pub near Marine fc's ground.

Would it even be a sacking? Does pellegrini's contract extend beyond the end of the season?

NB, I don't know the answer to these or many other questions

Whenever did Real Madrid sackings make sense?
Ancelotti, Del Bosque etc..
I shouldn't think many managers have been sacked a couple of weeks after winning 10-2.

He signed a 1 year extension last year, which takes him to this summer - when he can leave with everyone's best wishes and be replaced by Guardiola.

I still think Guardiola to Arsenal would make the most 'sense' - don't see him fitting at City or Chelsea, maybe United at a push.

I agree. But unless Arsene has kept retirement quiet, I think he will go to City. Which imo is a poor move. A club that is willing to shift on their manager before they know if they'll win the league etc.........

Lux, I appreciate you argue with me for the sake of it. However, Guardiola will take charge of an English club in the summer. So even if Pellegrini wins the Premier League (and potentially another trophy) he will be replaced regardless. So it's certainly much harsher than the Di Matteo sacking should this scenario happen.
