I'm guessing its cos of shit like this that Suarez isn't in the top 3

Espanyol sources tell @sport that Suarez aimed racist insults at Diop + Mascherano & Busquets were waiting in the tunnel with him to scrap

Winston Smith

If you are not even willing to back yourself in a debate then how can you expect anyone else to take your point seriously on it?

Eh? You say Reading won't miss Blackman. I say they will. So how can I back this up or indeed, how can you back this up until further into the season?

How the hell is that woman's goal on the list?

It was a really weak shot and the useless keeper tripped over her own feet :|

Shouldn't have even been in the top three.

Glaring omission leaving John Terry out the team of the year. Best defender in Europe last term.

Would've been a nice retirement present.

Yeah bit of a strange one, Sandman saying that

I guess he means on the basis that he's had better seasons even though last year he was still better than most other players best.

Messi has set the bar so high that to beat him you're gonna have to do something extraordinary

Thing is he was pretty extraordinary for most of last season, after his return from injury in Oct/Nov. His performances towards the end of the season are the stuff of legend. As is that nutmeg of James Milner.

Exactly

I was just pointing out that he's had better years [which tbf he has] but even so last year he was still miles better than anyone else

I do think that nominees shouldn't be able to vote. At least Roy's votes this year were sensible. Bit silly seeing Ronaldo vote for Benzema every year.

Not even the best player in his own club team. Suarez and Neymar were better than him for Barcelona, particularly towards the end of the year and his Copa America was solid rather than spectacular, one goal (penalty) despite having the most shots in the tournament, as once again he failed to win a major international tournament despite being in the most talented team.

For me Neymar, Suarez and Ronaldo should have been top three with Neymar winning it (yes, I know he didn't win the Copa America either or pull up many major trees but he was in a worse team than Messi was).

The Messi mafia once again ensure he wins the award just like they did in 2010 and 2012 when Iniesta should have won it."But he was Europe's top scorer he won it in 2012", so Ronaldo should have won it this year if it's merely about an individual's goalscoring record.

Its that short memory syndrome - same when players win "player of the season" for their club, the fans only really remember the last couple of months.

Take a look back at Messi from Jan 2015 until the start of this season....he was superb - Saurez and Neymar have really only been on top of their game this season (ie since August).

Leo Messi has won the Ballon d'Or 2015. In the FIFA Gala, held at the Palace of Congresses of Zurich, the crack blaugrana won in the voting ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar. Messi won the 41.33 percent of the vote; Christian, 27.76, and Neymar, 7.86. This is the fifth Golden Ball Messi conquest after four consecutive made in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. Thus, Argentina takes advantage of Christian that, for now, stays with three (2008, 2013 and 2014 ).
