Nameless Not sure why the Posh chairman needs to comment on transfer deals that he didn't conclude. I doubt he is giving an entirely objective view.....

he is a media whore.

They don't have that sort of money to spend, or any money for that matter. So it's best they don't get into the same situation as the Russian and spend money they don't have.

Perhaps any deal may not have completed due to stupid agent demands on wages or other add-ons. As we know QPR finally bought him and they're not unknown to pay well over the odds for players.

Personally I can't see our board interfering with players Brian wants unless it is because of ridiculous remuneration demands by the player or agent totally breaking the available budget or wage structure the club will be trying to define.

TBM CW - Is he on the radar?

No, he'd keep falling off.

Precisely.

The chairman who openly criticises his manager and discusses board room issues on Twitter. He's a gobby twat and i wouldn't believe much of the shit he posts on social media.

Fair enough, they're getting decent money for their players but if i was a Posh fan, I'd question his ambition with the conveyor belt of decent players walking out of the club and Posh being stuck in League 1.

Winston Smith The owners are here to develop the land and make a huge wedge off it. If they then need to give the club away to any idiot who'll have it because it has served it's purpose then good on them.

Ian Royal I like McDermott's answers to Watts.

I'm not too worried. Millions for a League One player is silly. It could be bad, or it could be that we wouldn't / couldn't compete with QPR on wages so pulled out in preference for a cheaper option. Which would be perfectly realistic and perfectly reasonable.

Something to watch out for though.

The cheap option is and always will be the Reading way if you dont know that the you must have been under a rock for the last 50 years

Yeah right cos we were the very model of financial prudence in the 3rd tier when we first moved to the Madejski .

TBM CW - So who’s the Polish lad?

Let’s not talk about Polish lads. We’ll see what happens. Whoever the Polish player is, or not, he will belong to a Polish team, or not - so we’ll see what happens.

Deniss Rakels is Latvian sooo....

Surely there has got to be an easier and cheaper way to buy a big oxf*rd car park in Berkshire than buying RFC?

I don't blame them wanting to interfere . Our choice of strikers have been suspect and costly.

From what I understand they have only moved and underwritten the debt so they haven't actually paid anything much... Of course they have invested an amount in the club with the refeb of a couple of boxes and a few items forced on them by the league but apart from that what can you think they have spent on the club/players against the amount of land they have acquired (stadium, carpark, training ground, dome, new training ground etc)

If they play it right it's a very cheap deal, if they are serious about the club/team then at best they will break even at worse lose on the deal.

Time will tell and a few in and around the club are yet to be convinced either way.

SJM got a pretty decent payoff didn't he ? That wouldhavebeen cash.
Buyers of businesses don't tend to pay off debt as their top priority do they ? Not sure anyone thought they had or even would do so. what they did was to take away the risk of the debt being called in.
I think they also will have paid for the new training ground and it's development as we only actually acquired that after they took over. That could all of course be borrowed money
You'd also be crazy to think they are in it just for a laugh. They are business people and will have had the calculators out from the start. But the people I know at the club seem to remain of the opinion that the Thaisdo care about success on the pitch, and there is no reason for it to be either or. They can do their development AND move us forward on the pitch, not mutually exclusive at all.

They care how well we do on the pitch because the Premier League = a big pile o' cash for them. And why not eh? I hope they make their money back and more. What's good for them is good for the club. At the very worst they've returned us to the status quo pre Anton minus the black hole.

I also don't think we'd have seen the likes of Vydra here on SJM's watch, and I have enjoyed the fancy new screen in the stadium.

As with any relationship, sure it could go sour, but so far they've done alright in my book.

Perhaps if you were a Posh fan you'd know a bit more about Peterborough's history. When the current Chairman took over they were in tier 4.

The tier that they're currently stuck at? They've been above that tier for a total of five seasons in their entire history. Three under the current chairman.

Their gate size and fan base are middle of the road for League 1. To complain about only being an established top League 1 club would be absolutely daft.

I think Peterborough are possibly the best run club in the country.

I meant in terms of the last few seasons blowing decent positions in the league.

I certainly would not be happy to see our chairman openly criticising the manager or players on social media.

+ Add in the fact that we had one of the most exciting transfer windows we've ever had in the summer - Regardless how successful or not these transfers have been - on paper, it was a terrific transfer window.
With SJM, I doubt we'd have signed Vydra, nor players like John, McShane or Piazon.

Owners meddling reaffirmed in McDs interview re: Rakels, aka the reason the owners pulled the plug on Washington:

BM: this has come from the scouts of the owners

CW: do you get the final say? (on Rakels)

BM: do I know him? No. I know Evans well, I knew Kermorgant well. I know Conor Washington really well, I would have liked to sign him but we couldn't do that deal.
