Royals and Racers
tidus_mi2 Looking at the highlights of the Fulham win, it looked like a very soft red card, to me it didn't even look like he fouled our player.

Now available on general view http://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/article ... 01-22_1709 very harsh red card. We will know later this evening who we meet in next round as Wolves entertain the Met police tonight.

Wolves 3-0 up after 40 mins

The Cube FA Youth cup quarter-final draw at the time it was made. I can't help thinking that the FA could have waited a bit longer.

1 AFC Wimbledon or Manchester United or Chelsea v Wolverhampton Wanderers or Metropolitan Police or Fulham or Reading

2 Aston Villa or Blackburn Rovers v Preston North End or Oldham Athletic or Luton Town

3 Wigan Athletic or Derby County or Manchester City v Middlesbrough or Norwich City

4 Coventry City or Charlton Athletic or Swansea City or Arsenal v Nottingham Forest or Birmingham City or Liverpool or Cardiff City

If the Royals beat Wolves they are likely to have to play the best U18 team in the country-Chelsea who beat Man Utd 5-1 away last night.

Nothing much. Played 20 minutes against Man City on Saturday. Just not quite good enough to get in the U21s side.

We lost that match 3-1. Goal from Cardwell, Kelly had another disallowed, and Ward saved a penalty. Team as follows:

-----------------Ward--------------------
Stacey---Hyam----Jules------Long
Kelly----Kuhl--Shaugnessy--Fosu
-------Novakovich--Cardwell-------

Subs: Southwood, Watson, Husin, Rimohota, Semedo

Interesting to see Stacey at full back again.
Genuine policy to convert him or a question of needing to fill the position and get him time on the pitch ?

How has Cardwell been getting on?

I know he slipped behind Novacovic in the pecking for first team involvement at some point but I though he looked really good on the few occasions I saw him.

Is he kicking on now?

Started for the U21 side in the absence of Liburd but not seen him play recently so hard to say. Looked good playing above his age but as you say maybe slowed down in terms of development in the last year. Tough with Liburd and Novacovic ahead of him and getting the game time.

Liburd is not playing U21 at the moment - does anyone know if he is injured or now deemed part of the first team squad?

He's taken a few weeks off so he can find a wife. She will then throw a wobbly and get him a move to a club in a warmer country.
He's learning how the experienced pro's do it.

He was injured when Kuhl was managing the first team but he's regained fitness and hasn't gone back into the U21s. Suspect the club don't think he has anything more to learn from playing at that level so they're better off playing Cardwell.

Whether the signing of 2 new forwards means he will head back to the development squad must be relevant, may depend whether Brian rates him higher than Simon Cox for a spot on the bench ? You'd think that it would do more good Liburd staying active in the U21's than just training. Maybe even a loan spell to nudge him forward a little more ? Recall Samuel and offer Liburd instead ?

Beating Chelsea is, on the face of it, a very good result indeed
