Not "Pretty damn awful" bar 2011/12
Glenn Murray, Jason Roberts, Matej Vydra, Orlando Sa, Billy Sharp:
All took one league penalty in their first and only season for Reading and missed.
Too eager to impress, it would seem.
*Obviously not Jason Roberts's only season, but was during his first.

I believe our two misses last season were against Sheffield Wednesday as well? Murray in the away game and Robson-Kanu at home.
I'm sure we missed more than one penalty in 2005/06. Lita missed one away to Coventry and then we missed two in one go against Palace a few days later (Lita had the first saved which had to retaken as the keeper had come off his line, Little then missed the second attempt!) Kitson also missed away to Millwall and Sheffield United.
Pretty dreadful stats in 2011/12 - I guess one of the big ones was away to West Ham that Harte scored. I think Harte and Hunt both missed two that season whilst Roberts and McAnuff both missed at home to Bristol City.
I must say Nick Blackman was an excellent penalty taker.

John Smith Shane Long v Cardiff in the away leg of the playoffs was a textbook example of how to score a penalty in a pressure cooker environment.

Royal Ginger Anyone any idea what the percentage of penalties scored is in professional English football? Ours works out as a shade over 72% from the above.
