Nice to see a thread like this as he certainly deserves a lot of credit for the thoroughly good work he's put in over the past few seasons.

Sour grapes because he doesn't tweet you?

Not really, I just find him to be gr8 m8's with certain people (yourself included) yet ignores comments/opinions/suggestions by anyone else.

I wouldn't say I'm one of "his favourites" but he does follow me - maybe it's due to the way he uses twitter and tweets from people who he follows are prioritised

Average at best, Ok compared to the local radio crowd (but that's hardly difficult) - but for a local football writer how often does he come up with an exclusive?

He's seems to get all his news from sky or on here...

Neither Watts or Fordham are a patch on Roger Ware! I believe he was a Reading supporter and wrote for the Reading Chronicle or was it the Berkshire Chronicle still at the time? Anyone else remember him?

Who was the guy responsible for the Chronicle's RFC Hooligan story which contributed towards the papers demise?

Whatever happened to him?

But yeh CW seems decent, fair play to the OP here for calling it out too.

Tbf it's his personal account, he's going to talk about the club he supports as well. He's a million times better than JF, and agree, shame Carey moved on!

Does he have a non-personal account then? Serious question... I just assumed that was his "media" account and only account

Not a patch on Steve Tommo Thomson (RIP) or Russell Kempson, or the Hound for that matter. I think the Internet is a good and a bad thing for local football journalists, easier to get the research done but probably makes them a little lazy when it comes to old school journo work and digging for stories.

Players being less approachable than they were 20-30 years ago probably doesn't help when trying to get the dirt, sorry research stories, either.

I remember the name. Late 70s / early 80s?

He's right, it happens everywhere. Barring Arsenal, I can barely think of a club where a manager has 100% say on signings. #readingfc

This is why he's a tosser. Arsenal Arsenal Arsenal

I like his tweets ( Hi Charles!) but a couple of things annoy me:-

1. He retweets the same tweet 4-5 times a day. If people are following and are interested, they will look back.
2. I don't like his video reaction pieces, he comes across like a schoolboy doing a reporting project.

Yes and in the same way that Tim Dellor is not a patch on Brian Roach who in the pre BBC RB days covered Reading for BBC Radio Oxford. A true fan who also knew a lot about football
