CholseyRoyal I am sure the owners and in particular Pieroj are having a lot of influence on whom we buy and sell. I am certain I read somewhere that Brian had no say in the sale of Blackman, it was forced on him. That was a quote from Brian himself!

You think you read it somewhere - bit vague. But you're certain it was a direct quote from Brian? - rather specific.

Pretty sure he was involved with Shinawatra and brokered the deal for Sheikh Mansour

You probably read it on here and it was probably posted as bait.

Whether Brian wanted him or not, he had 6 months left on his contract, showed no willingness to sign a new one and Derby offered a £4m deal. All for a player we would gladly have sold for Tuppence last summer. Absolute no brainer and I'm sure Brian knew that too.

Nameless Imagine the sort of calls you'd get from Royston or Leroy at 4am !

It would be a video message with members of the opposite sex

It sounds as if I was correct going by what Brian told Charles Watts this morning. Rakels is an "owner's signing" apparently. Charles will be going into more detail about what Brian said when he writes it up later today.

Has Hurtado left us?
Charlie Watts seems to think so, according to his video post this morning's press conference:
http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/video-reading-fc-press-conference-10801315
At the end of the interview in reference to "Owner signings" he refers to Sa and Hurtado both having left us.

Confimred on his own website:

Google translation:
Hurtado returned to Portugal

Hurtado returned to Portugal
The national footballer Paolo Hurtado will play in the Portuguese football, after the Reading of England Championship League, with the intention of enjoying greater continuity, ceded it to Vitoria Guimaraes loan to the Portuguese first division of soccer.

'Horse' is already in Portuguese territory to finalize the contractual party with his new team: Vitoria Guimaraes, who will be the fourth team to defend abroad, having played for Pacos Ferreira, Penarol and Reading.

Vitoria Guimaraes currently running sixth in the Portuguese league, fighting positions to Europa League qualifying.

No doubt the intention of Paolo Hurtado and his agent is enjoying greater continuity of play to continue being considered by the coach of the Peruvian team, Ricardo Gareca.

You are right Brian had no say in Blackman's departure. Blackman had been in talks with the club for months BEFORE Brian became manager. Was the club supposed to keep an unhappy player until the summer and then let him go on a free? It is obvious that Blackman wanted to go. Yes, again you are right, it was forced on the manager - by Blackman himself.
Brian has said that when he was appointed manager he knew Blackman would be leaving the club.

Does anyone think there are many (any) clubs where the manager has ever had 100% control of transfers in and out ?
It's not been true at Reading in my time following the club , and until managers are investing their cash in the clubs you cannot expect them to have the final say on how much they spend or whether to accept offers.

I like to think a manager has control over who is discussed for signing. The owners should always have final say on whether they're prepared to stretch the budget for someone. The owners shouldn't be bringing suggestions to the table IMO, and I'm not comfortable with them having their own scouts separate to the club.

But, I'm not going to throw my toys until we see some real problems caused by them.

This is their first venture into the world of football so a bit of a learning curve for them, maybe take a bit more notice of the guys at the club about who they would like to bring in, will get a bit messy if Washington starts scoring regularly for QPR though.

But for McDermott at the moment it must be looking like his latter time at Leeds

Why's that? Are we going to lose points for not signing him with every goal he scores for QPR? It will only really matter if (a) he scores the winner against us and that causes us to miss the play offs and (b) Rakels is shit.

So, do people think we will get another winger in, especially with G Mac being so injury-prone?
IMHO we could do with some real pace out wide to supply our newly- signed striker(s)

I'd love to see Fosu given a chance to impress here.
