It has got to the point where every pub I've been to that serves Coors Light makes me think of a guy I've never met. :|

If they want to compete in a small stadium spunking hundreds of millions of pounds on average players they'd better get used to it. Typical moaners wanting the best of both worlds.

Or, typically, people arguing about something with the full facts.

Apparently about 200 seats will be priced at £77 next season, and that only for the top six 'premium' fixtures. There will actually be more tickets sold at £9 per game. Quite why no-one is asking for or reporting on the full picture, I don't know.

Is this true? Seriously? Only talking about 200 odd seats?

According to a caller on Talksport - so admittedly perhaps equally as weak a source - the £77 is for a block of seats in the centre of the lower tier of the new main stand, 'around 200 seats' (I expect it is a few more). People with season tickets for those seats now at about £800, will be expected to shell out over £1000 to keep them next season. The Main Stand already is and will remain the most expensive part of the ground. But 45% of all tickets in the ground have apparently been reduced in price, with concessions now cheap as chips and fans local to Anfield able to get cheaper tickets too.

All in all it seems that the club has consulted, tried to make tickets more affordable for fans right around the ground and those local to the club, whilst increasing prices for premium seats to help fund the new build. As Ian says, 'that's journalism'. £77 is, imho, too much to watch a game of football (the £55 or so I paid for play-off final tickets is about my limit) but in this case it isn't the whole picture.

Scousers aren't going to let facts get between them and a good protest

tbf I think it's a general protest against paying so much to watch football in general

I read that six clubs (Liverpool included) indicated at the recent meeting of PL execs that they wouldn't support a £30 cap on away fans' tickets.

Good to hear though that tentative discussions had that the other clubs would come to that arrange ad hoc anyway, for games not involving those six clubs.

does seem an odd decision by Liverpool to increase the cost of a disabled season ticket in the centenary stand by £214 (33% rise) when apparently there is a waiting list for DST's so those people can't just move to a different stand to help avoid that big price rise

Just a pure business decision, supply and demand and all that. I guess the argument is whether such decisions should just be business based and you'd wish football clubs would make the same pure business decisions when buying and paying players.

Manfester Shitty did a similar thing recently. A ST friend of mine - her seat was upped from £400 to about £700 due to the opening of the new tier behind the goal. Basically trying to shift the 'riff-raff' from the decent seats to get people willing to stump up more cash for seats along the side of the pitch.
