Really? So why was he booed when he got just about everything wrong? Is booing now indicative of an average performance and therefore acceptable?

You sure you were at the right game? Beginning to wonder! Referee boo'd? oxf*rd when did that happen other than normal moaning at a ref?

Yes I am there every week as a season ticket holder. I know what I saw - the ref was pants. If he wasn't why were people all around me shouting and swearing at him for his decisions (and I don't mean the normal stuff)?

Yeah, worst referee all season, you said.

Maybe you are sat with some very frustrated blinkered fans where you sit! I am sat bang in middle of Y24 and witness no such behaviour other than the norm.

RG7Fan Boring, turgid, windy and cold.

Ref - worst this season. Seemed to go from giving everything under the sun to ignoring everything.

McCleary looked totally out of it - was he injured or just unfit still?
Cooper was a liability today.

MOTM? - no idea.

Expecting much from the Latvian Throatslitter.

Help me out here! How have we witnessed the worst referee this season. Give me examples of giving everything and ignoring everything please. Not throw away words examples required. Thank you.

Player goes down in our injured with what is clearly a head injury. Ref allows to play to continue for sometime before eventually whistling to stop play indicating that he was doing so because it was a head injury. IIRC refs are told they have to stop play immediately there is a head injury.

Dreadful late lunge on Obita that could have left him badly injured - dished out a yellow rather than red. An even worse lunge on Williams, the ref was looking straight at it, where the player even appeared to hook both legs around Williams. Williams down injured - not even a free kick awarded. Another lunge through from behind one of our players- their man eventually got a touch on the ball but only after he had wiped out our man - no free kick. Penalty claim near end? Bizarrely allowing us advantage and then blowing when the cross was in the air and our players were attacking it - play brought back for the free kick. And plenty more......

That having been said, the performance of our players, manager and 'coaching' team was far worse.

AthleticoSpizz Fosu far from set the world alight on loan at Fleetwood.....what would be so different here?

Would love to see the youngsters given the chance to thrive here.......but can you imagine the booing and bleating from the terraces ........that would hardly be conducive to their development?

He was actually doing very well and they wanted to keep him on! Showed enough at Derby last year that he could cut it at this level. Antonio mk2 coming up by the looks of things.

A team including Fosu, Samuels would certainly excite me more than some of this sub standard nonsense!
so why was he benched and occasionally not even played towards the end of his loan?

Please don't get me wrong.....I'd love to se him succeed

paultheroyal Ok - your first one, Williams chopped down, you answered your own question in that it wasn't a free kick.

Vydra clearly pulled in the goalmouth - no he wasn't.

Freekicks given for us committing fouls, ok then. Thank you for the clarification.

Err no - I was saying that he didn't give a free kick when it clearly was ...

But it wasn't.

There was one on Williams I clearly remember where the referee played a decent advantage, maybe you are confused!!

No I'm not confused - but I'm not going to argue the toss with you.

Oh another example - the fartarsing around at the corner when they had to retake it. If they'd scored from the retake this board would have been in meltdown at the ref's decision ...

Regardless of how shit the ref was - we weren't great, and that is more important.

Thank you - the ref was poor.

And yes there are always moans about the ref, but its been sometime since the "you dont know what you're doing" chant from the East Stand, so clearly there was an issue ....

This? oxf*rd me I must be losing it? We're you 2 sat together and part of the group creating at the ref?

Dreadful lunch at Obita resulting in a certain red?

Another worse lunge at Williams for a second red? Wolves should of been playing with 9 men?

Another lunge, another maybe red? 3 off?

There's plenty more? He gave us nothing? Yep, deffo worst referee of the season perhaps decade in missing 3 reds!!

I have no idea if Obita had a dreadful lunch - lol!! That was a bad tackle - in fairness I didnt see it properly so wasnt sure (and wasnt saying) it was a red. But the lunge on Williams was as bad and no free kick at all? Bullshit ...

Tackle on Obita was a yellow card - he gave a yellow card.

For the advantage: he played advantage, we crossed it straight to their keeper: No advantage, brought play back for a free-kick.

Penalty claim at the end: Theatrical dive from Rakels - not going to get a penalty whether fouled or not.

Just because their player's slid in does not make it a foul. Just because our player's rolling about doesn't mean its a foul, they're most likely not even injured at all.

Just get up and get on with the game.

Calm down Paul

We all sit with different views of the game.....and we all share different views.

From my view he was poor and made some very poor calls......however......he was on the pitch and had the best view of all.

Unfortunately, it would appear that despite his view, he should've borrowed someone's whistle

If he'd dealt with the first one properly we probably wouldn't have witnessed the other two. He failed to do so, set the bar really low and, in doing so, encouraged similar reckless challenges and endangered players' safety. We were sat directly in line, facing the ref, when the player lunged in on Williams. It was a very bad challenge that could have easily left him with serious knee damage. The challenge was so bad that I wouldn't have complained had one of our players been sent off for something similar!

And your excuse for him failing to deal with the head injury correctly?

Happy to retract the 'worst this season' comment because we are 2/3 way through so possibly cant remember all this year (and we have had some dross), but he was utter utter pants. Never said he missed 3 reds, not sure Athletico did either?

Sadly, he will never be the worst ref.

Anyways.......back to page one......what was Rakels (not) doing on the end of Johns' cross?....just stood like a tin soldier as the ball brushed his shorts

This. Williams needs to take a good look at himself. Central midfielder spending half the game rolling around on the floor (he was even doing that new fangled slapping the ground with his hand!). Game stops, physio comes on, Williams hobbles off to the side slowly in so much agony, game restarts and Williams comes running back on having made an instant recovery

It's a contact sport. Man up!

I quite enjoyed it. Chances at both ends. Spent a large chunk of time in the ascendency, just missed a bit of luck on the final ball.

Al-Habsi easy MOTM
HRK & Obita good
Vydra & Cooper bad

Ref maybe missed a penalty at the death and perhaps bottled a red near the beginning, but otherwise good. Played a great advantage which he then dragged back for a free kick and a yellow.

Deniss made some nice touches.

Clearly not three reds. Sub standard in any measure of refereeing ability but average for this league. The look of confusion on the referee assistant's face when the ref told Wolves to retake the corner was priceless.

Paul would defend him even if he had missed three definite red cards.

My brother came down from Boston to watch the game, staying last night in the same hotel as the Wolves team.
He had a chat with Alf who said that he really enjoyed his time at Reading.
Just thought I would share that with you all as I can't think of anything to say about today's game other than 2 teams turned up, ran around a bit and then went home again.

When he was with us James Henry wasn't thought to be good enough but that was in our Premier League days (remember them?)-now at this level he looks more than good enough for us-that is how far we have fallen because he is about the same as he ever was but we aren't.
